The four-star product continues to keep a pretty open mind in the recruiting process, but in recent reports he has admitted that two schools - Texas and TCU - have a slight edge on the competition. After a recent junior day visit to a school close to his hometown, you can add a third team to the leaderboard.
Key quote: "Of course Texas and TCU," Graham said of schools standing out. "And Baylor. They’re standing out right now."
Proximity playing a factor: Schools like Cal, Georgia, Nebraska, Oregon and Southern Cal have extended offers to the 6-4 Graham. He does have an interest in several out-of-state schools, but his familiarity with the schools within the state have them out in front at this early stage of the race.
"They’re closer to home and those are the only schools I’ve had a chance to visit," Graham said of Texas, TCU and Baylor. "During the summer I plan to venture out, more out of state to make some visits. And I plan to make a visit to A&M on April 1."
Graham, who checked in at 254 pounds at last weekend's Dallas RCS event, said he'd like to hit USC, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Cal this weekend. He does admit though that distance will be a factor he considers as he maneuvers his way through the recruiting process.
"It helps the schools that are close, my mom can see every home game. It’s a factor but it’s not a deciding factor," Graham said.
Longhorns in good standing: Graham has been on the Texas campus a handful of times and the Longhorns are expected to remain in contention until the very end. Graham doesn't have locked-in plans on the calendar for any return visits to the UT campus, but look for him to make his way to the Forty Acres at some point this spring or summer.
It’s a school I always grew up watching. That was my family’s favorite school that they grew up watching, especially my older brothers and mom," Graham said. "They always rooted for UT in everything. I don’t know, just the opportunity to go play for the Longhorns one day, I’ll take that into consideration."
Temple connection: The Longhorns signed a player out of temple, wide receiver Davion Curtis, in the 2016 class. Curtis is doing his part to try to bring Graham with him to Austin.
"He’s working me a little bit, joking around. "He tells me ‘You know you want to go here’ and things like that,” Graham said.
