Sources have told me that Purdue defensive backs coach Taver Johnson is one of the candidates for Texas' vacant DB coach position.

From what I have been told, Texas coach Charlie Strong has not formally interviewed anyone to replace Chris Vaughn, who was not retained because of alleged recruiting violations while at Ole Miss.

One person connected to Johnson (not a source we have used before) believes he will eventually land the job. We are still digging into this story, but to be clear, Johnson has not been officially hired.

As we reported in the War Room last night, Strong knew Vaughn was going to be dismissed on Monday, which has given him time to find a possible replacement. We will keep you updated when there is more information available.
