Texas A&M going down against Mississippi State

Texas A&M is 5-3. Just one game from being bowl eligible. Which they will probably get because they still have to play New Mexico. So that sounds decent.

Of those games, they...

Lost to 4-4 UCLA
Beat Nichols State by 10. By 10. Nichols State!!!
Had to come back in the second half to beat 3-4,ULaLa.
Just got trucked by Miss State (6-2).

They did beat 6-2 South Carolina, so I give them credit for that. And even though Florida and Arkansas are down (both at 3-4), they have a win over them as well.

But they’re getting ready to play Auburn, Ole Miss, and LSU. They’ll lose two of those games, minimum.

Is Sumlin’s not gone after this year, with only one win over a team with a winning record, he might as well build a new house in College Station. ‘Cause he ain’t going nowhere.

I didn't say Fisher would come to A&M; I just thought he might be one of the few sure fire winners to be willing to go somewhere else. I'm sorry to disagree about Chip Kelly, but I think he would be a horrible fit at A&M, but to talk about all these bigger fish than us might be premature. Just because you don't see the potential here doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I don’t know that Jimbo Fisher would go to A&M but any school who might want him now would be the time.

I do see a lot of potential in A&M. Lived there for two years, root for them except against OU and OSU for the most part.

But Fisher is an elite level coach. Not Saban or Dabo level, but top seven or eight. A&M is not a program Jimbo would look at. Not that it can’t be...with the right coach, a second level coach who can get hot, A&M has all the resources to be a top flight, elite football program. And then it would attract the Fisher’s of the world.

Put it this way, if some young, up and coming coach, like a young and hungry Bob Stoops, were to go to A&M, A&M could reach that next level. Play in the CFP, maybe even better. But until A&M has that type of history and pedigree, the elite level coaches are not going to look your way.

I still chuckle at that...

“We don’t get a fair shake because of tu, and that’s why we can’t compete in the B12. Our failures are all the teasip’s fault. The B12 sucks anyway and that’s why our legacy is to be a middle-of-the-road team in a mediocre conference; We’re going to a real conference. Being in the SEC SEC SEC will make us winners, because everyone wants to play at an SEC SEC SEC school...”

“We’ll just conveniently ignore the fact that our weird customs and horribly obnoxious fans are a turn off to normal, rational people; and the flawed rationale that a traditionally shitty team in the B12 somehow will not be a traditionally shitty team in any of the P5 conferences... Changing conferences doesn’t change your shitty school.”
Don't forget the Aggie's unrelenting racism. I think it's a factor in the Aggies' mediocrity. It's gotta harm their recruiting.

Hiring Sumlin didn't magically make that disappear. It's still there, more than typical. Far more than UT.

(Sorry, I hadn't noticed this was now a Cowboys-JerryJones thread.)

Sorry but Texas has just as many instances of perceived racism as us.. removing all your statues won't change that.
Anyone of color walking on the two campuses, and walking around the nearby areas will detect a noticeable difference. HUGE. And it's not just the Confederate flags flying and on so many of the pickup trucks.

One school has distinctly valued diversity for at least 40 years. The other hasn't.

UT was admittedly slow in removing the statues. And any school of that size is gonna have some racists, of course. But there's still a noticeable difference. Out of all the schools in Texas, only A&M's racism made the news in recent years: the visiting HS students from DFW who were race-shamed at A&M.

That's all I'm gonna say, or I'll be turning this thread into a 3rd topic.

We have the same percentage of African-Americans and Hispanics as you. You only surpass us extensively with the Asian population. It may be more under the radar there but it still exists much more than you think. It exists everywhere, but just like society, it is more convenient to paint a certain group as racist. For instance: The South is always portrayed as more racist than the North. It is not.

For what it's worth, my nephew actually went to both OU and A&M...just finished grad school at A&M last year. His direct account was "you would have to go to the deepest, darkest parts of Oklahoma to match the open racism that exists at A&M. I was really surprised to hear that...then again, I don't know that much about College Station.

Setting aside anecdotal evidence, aggy isn't losing recruiting battles or coaches because of perceived racism. That same perceived racism exists at pretty much at every football powerhouse.

Did your nephew think that the frat houses were the deepest darkest parts of OU?

what's the next level? third place in the division?

Yeah, cause that song was only sung at SAE in Norman, not at dozens of other SAE houses across the country, including UT. OU campus is way more liberal and snowflakey than I ever thought possible. Hell, they're taking "Boomer Sooner" off of documents involving new students because it might offend non-athletic freshmen.

come on! fischer didn't leave for LSU! why would he leave for ATM? and you wouldn't want chip kelly? the ONLY reason someone would not want kelly is the recruiting issue. if he went to a one-school state (LSU comes to mind), he would DOMINATE! he only revolutionized the game more than any coach in the last twenty years-- yeah, why would you want that??? dabo ain't going. franklin isn't going. stoops isn't going.
Chip Kelly dosnt fit their culture cuz he wins too many games. aggy don’t care about winning, they just care about what uniforms their gonna where the next week

And as long as they win just one more game during the season than Texas does.

Chip Kelly would seem to be a better fit out west than in the SEC you’d think. He’s a bit of a different cat though. I could see him ending up somewhere you wouldn’t expect.

good ol' 1939! when 7 teams claim the national title, and Ag is one of them! way to split one with Cornell, Ag!
