Texas Recruiting

I see that our old friend Mack Brown finished with a top 10 class. He signed two 5* linemen. Zach Rice is the nations 2nd ranked ol. MB went head to head with the great Saban and won him over. Travis Shaw is a 5* dl and I think Rivals has him ranked as the 12th best player in the country. We all remember what a great recruiter he was and NC's recruiting has been improving every year he's been there.

Way to go Mack

Joag and dumbo both need a piece I think. They getting their feelings hurt pretty easy now a days.

Give Venables a full recruiting cycle and I think Venables will do just fine, he picked up some D recruits in the last couple of weeks that we could sure use.

In fairness, when a new coach comes in late, they are faced with a pretty difficult task of keeping the recruits that were committed under the previous coach and adding a few more. IMO first year coaches get a pass on their initial recruiting class.

I mean, he still finished with the number 8 recruiting class even after it plunged into the 30s after Riley left. It would've likely been a top 5 class under Riley, but he did a hell of holding what was left of the class together and adding to it over the month and a half he and his new staff had. Hate that we didn't get Campbell though, great pickup for the horns.

Good grief dude how long did it take you to do this? I assume you have a job but you need to get laid asap.
No man, I just saw the game and IMO Ewers was outplayed. I am not on here 24/7. I. said Ewers has a lot of talent. Happy? Wow.

So here's and interesting site that purports to show what each recruit/transfer was paid for each team. Click on the team name and it will bring up that teams recruits/transfers and what they were paid.

The way I understand it is that it's an estimation of their NIL value depending on how many followers on social media they have, player performance, the team they are on, etc.. It doesn't mean that is what they are getting. Basically an appraisal of what each player is worth.

Yeah I doubt athletes have to report NIL numbers to anyone but the IRS. I could be wrong but I’d be surprised if Williams was only paid what that site purports but who knows. Also how does Cali. Tax laws effect NIL deals? Seems they would be paying more taxes too?

Dude you took excerpts from nineteen different replies to talk about a high school quarterback.

From what I gather from random reddit comments:

Harsin brought a 22 year old former Boise cheerleader with him to Auburn, then got her a job in their recruiting department, and possibly may have been caught boinking said former cheerleader

Also current players are complaining about him on social media.

Harsin is supposedly close to being canned.

And…get this….Auburn is rumored to be in contact with Tom Herman to gauge his interest

Here’s a pic of the assistant he brought over from Boise.

Auburn is a terrible place for coaches. People think Texas is bad, Auburn is WAY worse on coaches. Supposedly boosters never wanted Harsin and have kinda been wanting him out already for awhile.

Auburn is a tough place to coach. They are sandwiched right in between Georgia and Alabama, literally.
As for the assistant...uh...he really had to bring that across the country with him??? Damn she must be a fuhreek!

Me personally….I’d take Malzahn over Harison. Don’t think he will be there long.

If I commit to auburn can I boink her too?

The problem Auburn has is money.

they had to pay close to 30 million to get rid of Malzahn plus his staff. They’d owe Harsin close to 19 million plus whatever his staff is owed. Probably the reason they’d consider Herman is hed come pretty cheap. When you spend 50 million on buyouts in two years there isn’t much left.

Harsin likely has a morals clause in his contract and AU won’t be buying him out.

They are going to end up paying something. You can’t fire a guy on grounds without proof and all they have right now and likely all they’ll ever have is rumor. They might be able to use it as leverage to pay him less but they’ll have to pay him most likely

Harsin learned a little something from Major during their co-offensive coordinator days at Texas

I remember I saw pictures of Harsin's wife when he was our oc. She's beautiful. And he wants to be with a girl who looks she should be on the pages of barely legal?

I am still wondering what Texas is going to do at linebacker. Our lb's from last year are really bad. They aren't going to be the answer. If we have the same linebackers, we won't be above .500.

Reddit insiders are saying that Sark is working to bring in David Cutcliffe as an offensive analyst. Apparently 247 Sports is also reporting it but I can’t find it. If true, that would be huge in landing Arch Manning.
I was wondering if he would do that knowing he has a long history with the mannings. He also is one of the best offensive minds in football and has been for a long time.

recent events have me thinking we are going to land arch

Sark actually acknowledged that during his press conference. Says we need to shore up inside LB spots specifically.

We have a really nice class but we aren't going to be much better next year. If we are starting true freshman lineman then we are in trouble. They may have some major talent but the strength and speed of guys in power 5 conferences is on another level. They are going to get pushed around.

The defense also has some issues outside of LB. We got some talented kids coming in but we need major help with edge rushers (either DE or OLB) and Safety. Hopefully we can address this when the next round of transfers shake out after spring ball.

OU, Baylor, OK State, and Iowa State were all hit hard with graduation. So the playing field is pretty level the way I look at it. I would say 7-8 wins is pretty reasonable for next season.

Campbell and Banks both have the size and strength to be day 1 starters. They might struggle early on but with our lack of talent on the offensive line we really have no choice but throw them to wolves early.

LB is a major concern for next season as well. Secondary is full of young talented guys but not a lot of experience there. It’s going to be tough sledding early on next season but I think Sark has it trending in the right direction with this year recruiting and transfer class.

Nothing like a Texas sized QB controversy to divide the fanbase.
