Spring practice is nearing and everyone here has the same question….

Is @clob94 going to attend this year and give us the low down on what to expect in the fall?

I have just one question, can Ewers throw the out with conviction to a WR that run a DB over for 6?

Clobs response to being at Texas spring practice must be in the voice of Stone Cold Steve Austin...

"OOOOHHHHHHH HHHEEELLLLL YEEEHHHHHHHH"

My prediction for the practice reports:

Something about the guys looking the part and being in shape.

It feels different

Some freshmen are turning heads

Card is looking good but Ewers has that IT factor.

Bijan is the best player on the team.

Sounds about right. I'm not buying into this team until they produce results on the field. Last year Texas looked very good in the first half of most of their games, but they ran out of gas and were severely outplayed in the second half. That has obviously GOT to change going forward. That is all conditioning.

This thread title doesn’t indicate Longhorn spring practice so I’ll be contributing the OU spring report periodically as we enter the BV historic run.

I'm going to buy into the hype just because for once I feel like we addressed our biggest weakness for years, the offensive line. That and I also believe Ewers is a pretty big upgrade over Card of Thompson. Still think our ceiling next year is 8-9 wins. We just have to figure out how to finish games.

MM....until we get D linemen that do not weigh in at 350 or so we will have exactly the same results. Frankly, Coburn and Sweat have been huge (literally) disappointments to me. If they could get down to 320 or so, I think they could be players. Until then all they will disrupt are LB's paths to the QB. I never scouted for Emfinger but I can recognize a fat tub of goo when I see it......Give me very mobil slightly undersized FAST players every time.

Even at those elaphantine numbers, last years defense might have lasted into the 4th quarter had our offense been able to get even a FEW first downs in the second half of games. I kept reading how opposing coaches were able to make adjustments at halftime to stop us....I call bullshit on that. We quit moving the ball in the second half because we could not pry our fat asses off the bench to play. We had a better O line in Strongs first year when we had to resort to using walk ons . I am tired of us recruiting these 7 on 7 heros that cannot play worth a crap with 11 on 11...

As y'all can tell I am rounding into bitching form early this year due to extensive off season work outs

Good points. Coach K's NFL DL looked like this:

Vita Vea School: Washington Position: DL 6-5, 340lb

Elijah Qualls School: Washington Position: DL 6-2, 293lb

Greg Gaines School: Washington Position: DL 6-2, 322lb

Agreed. Can we clone Lamar Houston, please? The perfect DT in my book, a converted RB.

While we’re at it, print me out a couple Sergio Kindles as well. Man, those were the days.

Well don't stop there let's create a couple of Brian Orakpo's and some Earl back when he was a team player Thomas's.

Speaking of dl's.

Picture this 9/10/22 Austin Texas

It's early in the first quarter And it looks like it's going to be first and goal for the tide. But wait! Just as Bryce Young, their Heisman winning QB goes down Keondray Coburn, by far our fattest, clumsiest dl is moving in to finish the tackle. And in the words of the great Kieth Jackson he's rumblin, bumbling, stumblin, trips over his own feet and falls on Young's shoulder. They doctors run to the field and check him out. It's only a stinger but doctors say he won't be able to play for approx 24 hours. Coburn gets ejected but Sarkisian calls time out and all of his coaches and teammates high five him and let him know for once he did something good.

Epilogue without their Heisman winning qb AL can't recover and the Longhorns win going away. Bijan Robinson has a monster game and becomes the Heisman favorite. Standing on the sidelines Colt McCoy tells Sarkisian about what happened when TX played AL in the RB a few years ago. With 8 seconds left the Longhorns call a to. T'Vondre Sweat lines up as a receiver. He gets the ball on a reverse but he stops and throws an option pass to Moro Ojomo who rumbles and runs over a couple of AL players en route to a 60 yard TD pass on the last play.

Texas goes on to a dramatic comeback season and wins 3 Natty's over the 5 years. AL does not recover and finishes 8/4. After 2 more 7/5 seasons Saban retires.

And after the game Mack Brown Gmail's Nick Saban. In your face bitch.

One question. Who in the hell is Kendray Colburn?

A few notes....

The only day one starting transfer is Ryan Watts at corner.

Ewers ran with the twos.

Neyor was third string.

Billingsley 4th string.

Ja’Tavion Sanders starting at TE.

Kitan Crawford moved to safety.

Of course, expect the transfers to move up rapidly. You can’t just hand over the reigns to them day one. I’m liking where Sanders is at.

I'm looking to watching J'Tavion Sanders this year. He could be our best te in a long time. He was our star recruit in 2021. We now have a te who can actually catch a ball behind the first down chain and convert it into a first down. Something Brewer never did in the 5 years he was here.

Oh and I read that Tyler Johnson has left the team another '19 recruit down the drain.

I expect improvement this season and look forward to seeing how we develop and grow. However, our defense is still a major concern for me. We gave up 57 points and 600 yards of offense to KU and I don’t see personnel wise that we have improved that much on that side of the ball. I hope I’m wrong but like MM said we need to actually see results before we can believe and trust this team.

Sanders has the potential to be a monster.

Sanders and Billingsley might be the best TE room in the country. I can't remember looking this forward to a spring game in a long time.

Hold your horses, can either one of them block? Billingsley looked terrible in their National Championship game and Sanders hasn't played in college yet because he couldn't beat out Brewer and whoever that other guy was we had last year.

"Might be" covers a hell of a lot of ground. Might not be is the flip side of that coin. I for one am not going to feel confident of success on that end sweep where Bijan is depending on a 216 pounder to clear the way for him.

That and I have yet to see Saunders do anything. I have hope that they both will be great, but hope didn't get me that date with Annie Smith in H.S.

IF you read what I said then you would see I said MIGHT BE. Context is important. I'm not saying anything just yet, but I can tell you if you think Brewer is better than Sanders then I don't know what to tell you. They wanted Sanders to have a redshirt season last year and develop a little more. Doesn't mean Sanders wasn't better than Brewer or Wiley. I would almost bet anything I own that Sanders could have taken Brewer's job last season. There was no reason to waste his redshirt year for a 5-7 season.

Sanders is 255 pounds, not 216.
