Texas vs branch school thread

Well, I'm at my house now (no LHN). But, I see the score is 27-7. Whatever the coaches and players started doing in the past 10 minutes of play, keep it up! (I just upgraded AT&T Uverse to get the LHN at few minutes ago.)

I watched the first half at my in-laws house and had to take my 6-month old son home for bed. Bummer. Stat line shows we haven't committed anymore penalties or turnovers, and the time of possession is evening out.

There you go 90 God dammmmit! Way to have a pass rush! Great first step, bull punch to the right shoulder, get under him with a rip move, lean hard and drive him into the QB! That how you fvcking pass rush!

Hoping Buschele is done for the day, give Merrick a chance to see what he can do. Or maybe even Kai Locksley.

SB has such great touch but no fireball. Makes me want to haul him into the weight room and just "pump him up!".

Nice to see the team put a thumping on a team they should. There were several teams that damn near got trapped today.

Too many penalties (especially by K boyd), a few big plays against the D (especially 51 yd run for TD), and some inconsistency on offense (especially when we were dealing with the o-line injuries).

Overall a solid performance by the D, giving up only 7 and containing the run against a very good running team. On O, we saw how important Connor Williams is and how much better D'onta is than CW3. SB was very impressive in his second showing, a few missed intermediate throws but smart plays and a B-E-A-utiful deep ball/fade. Let's get healthy and ready to go out west.

Yeah I expected some missed assignments and inconsistencies on the OL just because of injuries and moving guys around.

2-0! Winning streak. Consistency. Good news, we have some easy things to tighten up (avoid dumb penalties and hold on to the football). This team has an opportunity to play much better next week and win a road game.

Next week is big. Cal is one of the games we let slip away last year. If they can flip it from an L to a W it increases the floor for this team.

Couldn't tell if CW3 was just running slow or it was the sloppy OL play in front of him but KP looked much better. Still CW3 ran for nearly 100 yds maybe more.

Loved all the young guys getting involved! #32 Roach is going to be a baller!

CW3 is a load to take down but he really lacks the ability to find the right hole like D'onta.

Played a shit ton of freshmen on both sides of the ball. Allowed 208 yards off offense, 51 on one play. Too many penalties! Shane is a badass! The team is legit.....

A few things I picked up from this game.

1. I think a lot of young kids grew up a bit tonight. I was worried about having 4 starters out from the previous game but as the game wore on they got better and better. Loved seeing CWIII get the start and Porter get a few carries.

2. Great game by our receivers lots of guys got in and performed well. I think we have one of the best receiving corps in the country and by the end of the year, all the talking heads will be agreeing with me.

3. Coaches made some great adjustments during halftime. Their little running back was tearing us up in the first half, he got nothing in the second half. I know we wore them down, but you also have to give credit to the coaches for putting those young guys in position to shut him down.

4. CWIII - He is slot, maybe it's the oline not doing their job, but I think I can hit the hole faster than he did. I personally think he needs to stay far away from the weight room and drop about 20 lbs. His weight is just not right for him and it is causing him to just look not quick.

5. Two games in and honestly our pass defense hasn't been tested, or maybe I should say they have passed the tests put before them so far. I knew our back 7 were going to be the strength of this defense, and so far they have proven themselves up to the task. We are still a young defense, and next year we are going to be Bama good.

6. I never ever ever want to see SB running the ball, I would rather him throw the ball away than see him running the ball, and I really don't want to see him putting his head down trying to fight for extra yardage. One big hit and he is lost, for several games or even the season. He needs two years in the strength program before I'm okay with seeing him put his body in harms way like that.

7. Shane throws a beautiful and very catchable ball, reminds me of Major Applewhite. I think he will be a 4 year starter since he isn't a complete QB as far as the NFL is concerned and I have no idea if he ever will be. Only time will tell but for Texas he is a god send.

8. I know we were talking injuries, but I have a feeling that many of our starters that were held out could have played if we needed them to. To me it tells me this coaching staff has a lot of faith in the depth on this young roster.

9 Next week is Fe-Cal, and I think we will be super ready to lay down an total ass-kicking and then we have a bye week before we start conference play. The only thing I think we need to really work on is stop fouling especially doing something really stupid like taking a bow after good play. We have 3 weeks and two games to fix that.

Literally that is all we really need to fix, the rest is just about getting better at what we do.

10. Texas picked a good year to be back, as the rest of the Big 12 truly sucks.

Enjoyed the win but too many penalties will get you beat in a tight game.Would bringing in a referee during practice if our coaches cannot get the point across?

We're a young team that will make stupid mistakes in our first few games...this will be rectified.

I'll take what we did. Being young comes with dumb mistakes and sloppyness. I watched strong teams yesterday struggle with teams they should've put away.

Young players for a college team is very true, however, they have played football before and they know NOT to take a bow. I don't think it was so terrible but if that had happened against a good team it could have cost Texas a win. Not acceptable. Some penalties are legit....fighting for position......holding a DL so he doesn't crush the QB...but I don't like the head scratchers like the bow. I knew when he did that it was going to be called.

Team is 2-0 and a LOT of young guys are playing. The future is so very bright....hell it's bright right now.
