Texas vs Mizzou *** Game Thread ***

Why does EVERY post of yours have to be some negative, backhanded swipe at Herman? Maybe you need to find somewhere else to post your nonsense and repetitive drivel.
How is that back handed to Herman? I think your seeing what you want to see man... you wouldn’t agree that when Texas and OU are both right they are fsr and away better than anyone in the big 12 and have an easier path to being in playoff contention?

Huh? What is this nonsense?

If Texas had beaten USC, OSU, and TCU but lost to OU in October and then won the Big 12 CG (presumably over OU), you think they would have been anything but a stone-cold lock for the CFP?

Come back when you sober up.

Haha so true. This "packsmack" guy reeks of an aggy troll. Member for 10 years and all six posts he's ever had are on this thread after a Texas wins a bowl game against an SEC team.

Your right, no way to be a one loss team with the new championship game, by the time you play ou twice you have two losses

A playoff bound OU beat a 7-6 Texas team 29-24 this year and OU has a Heisman QB.

Texas beats OU with any offense, which will form as Herman brings in top 5 recruiting classes & players for his offense.

When Tim Beck was the passing game coordinator at Kansas, they won the Orange Bowl and his Nebraska offenses easily averaged more than 30 points a game.

He was a 2 time Broyles Award Nominee.

He’s never been any good.
Mark mangino called a lot of the plays at KU. I don’t know much he called I do know he was heavily involved.

I want to repeat what's already been said on this thread. Tim Beck called a conservative game because he had to. I mean our running game was ranked 94th what did you expect him to do? Given what our strengths are this year he tried to give our defense and special teams the best chance of winning and in that regard he did well. For the sake of next year's seniors especially those on the offense let's keep the coaches for another year. I mean they've had so many position coaches they deserve some continuity. People on here don't seem to notice that all these coaching changes effect your development. And really the offense had nowhere to go but up.

And you know I'm starting to think that the early departure were going to miss the most is Michael Dickson. I mean the defense did fine without Elliot, Jefferson, and Holt.

And we're just 247 days away from the MD game.......

“I don’t know” is the most accurate thing you have said on this thread. You draw conclusions and make assumptions about our coaching staff that are not based in fact and conveniently fit your narrative.

I know sevreal players who played for Mangino at KU and asked them about Beck when Texas hired him. They told me Mangino had a lot of say in the offense... and I saw a lot of their games back then and it looked like he was calling a lot of the plays. I do know that regardless though that was 13 years ago... his resume sense then hasn’t been great and I don’t think anyone would argue he was good this year.

I think it’s stupid to make any coaching changes now. We need to wait & see if the offense improves next year.

That’s the issue. He’s gotta find a way to get a passable offense next year and by that I mean one that scores 27 a game instead of 20... if he doesn’t. He’s gonna be in the same boat Strong was. Looking for an OC in year 3 squarely on the hot seat. We know how that turned out. You just don’t get time to bring in class after class to build “your” team anymore.

If Herman wants to keep Beck I’d at least like to see him be proactive and be the playcaller. He’s won a NC as a play caller, he kept climblimg the latter because of his offensive mind he ought to bet on his abilities. I’d be willing to bet he could squeeze a little more out of these guys. Might be enough to get you from 6 to 8 wins.

FWIW I said the same thing with Strong when it was clear the defense was an issue. He finally did it and it improved but it was too late.

Although I’m not convinced Beck is the long term solution, I need to see the offensive line, QBs, & WRs spend another year growing & learning Beck’s offense before I can assess him.

I have negative bias because I’m lumping this bad year in with any & all bad years Beck has ever had, plus the recent failures of Watson.

If Beck had no prior history as an OC &Strong/Watson had never happened at Texas, my perspective would be more neutral.

If Beck had a longer history of success as an OC I’d agree give him more time. But his best years as an OC were 13 years ago... since then it hasn’t been great. Does it also bother anyone at all that Urban let him go? That’s aleays kind of stuck with me.

Give it a rest. Strong is gone. Just improve next year. That was next year's defense minus 1-2 seniors. They did well. Poona will be missed. The offense will improve. Long offseason, let's enjoy the win and lockup a top 5 class.

I think he was hired at Texas with a clean slate. As fans, we should attempt to assess him the same way.

OC is usually the most hated guy on staff by the fans and backup QB is the fan favorite. All OCs have their warts if they don't then they probably aren't going to be OCs very long.

Bingo. If Beck had tried to make this a high flying offense, it would have been worse. The defense would have been crap in the second half of every game against a team with a pulse. Not saying he is any good or not, but he played the hand he was dealt. If the defense takes a step back next year, the pressure will be on Beck for sure next year. But that OL has to get a LOT better. Hard to scheme around the left side of the line I saw last night.

Looked good. Ford will be missed more than a lot of people think. Is Roach a senior?
Back 7 should be salty. Freshman DB's will help on special teams too. A big time Juco DT would help a lot.

Roach is a sophomore.

Roach is a sophomore and look out for Bimage, dude is getting big.

I think Josh Thompson will step up and play a big role for us next year. That dude just seems to get it. Has been a fantastic special teamer all year and I think he can step in for the Devontae Davis type players tomorrow. If one of the freshmen can come in an play CB or Safety from day 1, I like that defense a lot. A lot depends on getting a DL to replace Ford, someone like Coburn

Go watch Bimage's recruiting video. Beats Little consistently. He plays angry. Reminds me of Derrick Johnson.

Coburn isn't the best recruit in the state, but he might be the most important. Everybody needs that guy who is 6 ft tall and 5 ft wide.

This is the thing about your schtick that really bothers me. You make things up to fit your narrative. Tim Beck’s 1st coordinator position was as Kansas passing game coordinator in 2008. He didn’t become an OC until 2011. He was nominated for the Broyles Award in 2012 & 2013. His Nebraska offenses averaged almost 40 points/game.

If you’re going to act like a know-it-all, please get your facts straight.
