Texas vs. No. 16 TCU game thread -- Texas wins 99-98 in 2OT

I almost had to buy a new samsung after the blocking foul on Simms. I love beating tcu.
Was that the one where Fisher was driving, jumped into him and swiped him in the face with his left hand and got the call on what should've been an obvious charge?

Far from certain, especially if we’re going to be limited to this seven-man rotation for several weeks. We will very likely need 19 wins. Eight more will be tough to come by. I’d say we’re facing at best even odds of making the tournament.
Most coaches limit their rotation to 7-8 guys anyway this time of year. Not really a concern. Losing roach and Jones does leave us thin in the back courtcourt for sure, but doesn’t really change how Shaka rotates players. He’d still probably be playing 7-8 guys majority mins. Just if he had Roach and Jones they’d be getting the mins that Jase and Jacob young are getting.

It’s unfourtanitr though. I really felt if Jones became a star, Davis was more like freshman Eric Davis and Coleman was the PG we needed this team was a dark horse final 4 team. That looks like it would of/is happened, but now with Jones out that kind of run probably isn’t possible. One adjustment I’d like to see Shaka make is Banks getting some mins when Bamba is out. He won’t give us much on offense, but he is a good defender and we won’t lose as much on that end of the floor when Bamba is out. Look out for Simms give him a year in the weight room and working on his game... dude could very well be one of the best players in the country next year.

Agreed, he seems like he could be a guy who stays 2-3 heck maybe even 4 years and dominates players.

I didn't say a seven-man rotation -- I said this seven-man rotation (which was actually barely more than a six-man rotation against TCU).

When four of the six players getting almost all of the minutes are true freshmen, and only one of them is a Kentucky- or Duke-level one-and-done talent, it's definitely a concern.

I think your under selling guys like Coleman and Simms. Not nevsssrly one and done(hope Coleman doesn’t leave) but super talented. Playing freshman and sophomores is college ball today their aren’t many impact jrs and Srs. Different game than what you see in football.

Our players were gassed in the last few minutes of the game today. Like I said, having to play with this rotation could hardly more obviously be a major concern.

I think you need to read a little more closely. I'm not underselling anyone. Our freshmen are obviously talented, but Coleman, Sims, and Febres are not the superstar freshmen that you regularly see at UK or Duke. That's just a plain fact.

Seventeen of the 25 players on the midseason Wooden Award watchlist are upperclassmen. There are plenty of impact juniors and seniors -- and a lot fewer impact freshmen.
