First off ACES - we don't need any fake hypocritical morality lesson from a group that is the worst of the worst.

However,
1. A decade of mediocre play on the field and losses not to better athletes but due to incompetent coaching and poor preparation have made us a bit defensive. Winning cures this to be sure but in the meantime we need to remember who we are and not stoop to the level of the lower tier fan bases. My experience is that the best part of our fanbase is still gracious and well mannered but the worst of our fan base is much worse than it was 20 years ago or 40 years ago when I was on campus. We need to help reign in some of the worst offenders and help teach them how to act if you really are a Blueblood program.
2. It really does suck for the rest of the B12 and we should try to be more gracious in our exit. This is similar to #1 above, but goes a bit deeper. None of us like to hang out with people that are always bragging about how important or rich they are. Leave that sort of talk for insecure people. We know who we are and we can show empathy to those who are less well off than we are.

I particularly agree with No. 1. (I can’t bring myself to give a shit about a place like Baylor that always acts in it own self interest, even to the point of allowing criminal behavior by its athletes.) But fan decency is important and makes the game more enjoyable. A high point for me was the Michigan Rose Bowl. Our fanbases were very respectful towards each other — with the caveat that this was in Pasadena not Lubbock — and it was awesome talking football more than trash. Kind of like Nebraska before we stole their souls.

On point 1, I agree. A little graciousness and sportsmanship is in order. I think it'll help that we'll be traveling to some great venues as well, and dealing with some great fanbases that actually care about football.

On point 2, I can only agree partially. I feel bad for some of the smaller schools, but they've also been making money hand over fist while adding very little to the conference. On a larger scale, the atrocious officiating and general incompetence of the B12 as an organization have left a sour taste in my mouth. This conference has sown the seeds of its own destruction, and I will be happy to see it go.

On the chant, I’ve always thought that was a southern thing. They’ve always said, “the south will rise again.” Well, football is that vehicle by which they will conquer the world.

I wasn't saying that we need to say "we love you, or its not you it's us" but we just dont have to be Dicks to them or rub it in.. Our actions speak loudly enough.

I find it laughable that some people are saying Texas doesn't care about its conference-mates because we're leaving. Just big bad Texas being mean again. But did Colorado, Nebraska, A&M and Mizzou give a shit about the teams they were leaving behind? Obviously not. Why does Texas always have to carry water for everyone else?
