I have to disagree with you on this. Getting points with your offense on the sideline is the difference between a good 10 win team and championship run. Our problem was the complete lack of stopping the other team from scoring.
Everyone wearing that longhorn logo sucked at some point in the game. Nobody expects perfection but we do expect better from full scholarship players.
I think Boo is more than capable to qb a sucessfull team. We all love Colt but dont forget his flaw was a noodle arm after 10yds. He dinked and dunked us right into a championship game so it can be done. None of that matters if you have a jv line though.
I still reserve my evaluation of TH and co. until they have film on someone. We may not win a lot this year, but no one else on the schedule is going to have as much of a chance to sneak up on us as MD did.
In big games especially, TH has definitely shown he can put together a great game plan when he has film. He prepares as well or better than anyone in the country ........ when he knows what he's preparing for.

He hesitated and got stuck. The ball has to come out of his hand much quicker. On the failed 4th down, he hesitates and gets crushed. He may not have made it anyway, but he has to commit and go.
You are probably right but I'm not sure it says great things about Herman as a coach if we're saying he can only run a good offense with a certain type of QB.
If we're expecting Herman to be the next great coach in college football which many do and a great offensive coach shouldn't he be able to adjust his system to fit what he has?
For example Mack won a title with Vince got to a title game with Colt. Sabah has been successful with guys like AJ macaron and now Jalen Hurts. The great coaches adjust. Many beleive Herman is that guy.

Horn drummer's post has me curious. What does the part about having no film to study mean? That doesn't make sense to me. His attention to detail is way out of whack then. He needs to eat hot dogs for a while. I was shocked. I expected a beat down, but I expected Texas to do the beating.

Let's be honest both teams were horrible. This game reminded me of ND with out the Horns comeback win at the end. Both D's sucked and both offenses took advantage. Maryland won because they kept the lead the whole game it was a sloppy D game on both sides. We put up 473 yds of offense to their 483. SP TD's on both sides is just plain sloppy football. Entertaining but no discipline and add the 115yds of penalities we racked up. Tom needs to get them to stop committing stupid mistakes.

Again with the Strong love stuff. It is possible to be a Texas fan, think Strong is a good coach who wasn't a good fit and want Herman to succeed all at the same time.
The question I pose is a legitment question though that we should be talking about. No Herman doesn't have a Greg Ward Jr, Braxton Miller type that he has typically had as a QB. He does however have 2 young QBs who all the experts say have the tools to be studs. Herman is a guy who is where he is because of his mind for offense. Shouldn't we expect him to design an offense that allows one of these two guys to show their talents.? And if not then throw Heard back there. He's more the type Herman will want. Could at least win some games this year. I mean if we are waiting for him to get his QB we all better be ready to commit 3-4 years to Herman regardless of results.
For the recored. I don't hate Tom Herman. I just don't buy in to him as the solution. The only difference between he and Strong prior to coming to Texas is he was a GA at Texas and Strong wasn't. Will he be better here than Strong was? Possibly but I don't view it as the lock that others do. Ovbiously after week 1 we have a lot of the sane issues we had in November. Actually more at least Strong had the defense playing reasonably well when he took it over. Now that's back to being the disaster it was at the beginning of last year.
You must not have tuned into the Notre Dame, Cal and Oklahoma State games last year. Did you even watch any of Texas' games last year?

In fact I don't mind saying that had he taken control of the defense week 1 against ND. Strong very well may be the HC today.
Yea based on LHN STORY that toured his 12K sq foot mansion, he should have rented an apartment. Really sounds like to me his spent more time decorating his house than evaluating talent. This game was embarassing! I project Merry land will not win more than 6 games.That is how bad we are.
Strong was the head coach. It falls on him how poorly they were coached and how terrible the defense was. Give it up defending him. Buy yourself a South Florida t-shirt and turn in your Texas fan card.

On the bright side, there hasnt been much coverage at all on our piss poor showing. I guess thats the benefit of being completely irrelevant for 4yrs straight.
Or the fact that aggy shit the bed and covered our 90 point non defensive game.
