Based on the recent recruiting at OL (one 4 star and four 3 stars by composite), I went back to review where our current hits have come from. OL recruiting is the strangest concept in the business:

From the 2020 to 2023 classes, Texas has the following breakdown:

2020
Jaylar Garth - 4 star
Logan Parr - 4 star
Jake Majors - 3 star

2021
Hayden Connor - 3 star
Max Merrill - 3 star

2022
Kelvin Banks - 5 star
DJ Campbell - 5 star
Neto - 4 star
Agbo - 4 star
Huston - 3 star
Cam - 3 star

2023
Chatman - 4 star
Kirkland - 4 star
Goosby - 3 star
Stroh - 3 star

Of the last four relevant classes (I excluded the 2024 freshmen), the following players were hits so far:
Majors
Connor
Banks
Campbell
Cam Williams
Cole Hutson
Trevor Goosby

Here is the rates that each star category hit for us:

Five Stars - 100%
Four Stars - 0%
Three Stars - 71%

Now, these numbers could change if Kirkland/Chatman/Stroh/Neto/Agbo become plus players, but right now, I think the hits I have isolated are more than fair.

I am kind of blown away by the 100% miss status of four star players. None of those guys have made a difference on any Texas roster since they came on campus. This reality against the insanely high hit rate for three star guys is intersting as well.

My takeaway is that five star players are as advertised and anything outside the five star category is an evaluation that the recruiting sites are not very accurate at making.
