On the flip side, if we don't have anyone who can land the big name recruits this year and keep the ones we already have from transferring or not being developed at all... then we're screwed for 2017 and 2018 too, no matter how big the name of the next HC hire is. And, as much as I love my Longhorn sports, someone is going to have to be a bit insane to want to walk into the situation we're setting up for any new coach that comes in for 2017.

Who is saying otherwise? Unfortunately it's not easy to hire coaches for 1 year gigs. The admin and Strong both share blame in this situation. They shouldn't just not back him, and he shouldn't be expecting them to pay for a new staff on a yearly basis.
