The UT double standard

One coach sits by while his players rape female co-eds and the program covers it up... Another coach may have committed adultery, let's see which one becomes the bigger story

Discuss...

Yeah so RAPE and then covering up RAPE of teenage women. Is always worse than consensual sex between two adults.

But anyone that has looked in to this story at all, says this is just a bitter divorce calling a big name coach in as a witness. Although you haters would love for it to be some sordid affair. If that takes the light a little off your COVERING UP of RAPE.

I don't believe that's the purpose. We are talking about high school athletes who if the parents are buying into the core value talk, they damn sure as well instilled those same values into their kids as they raised them. To say they never have been held accountable is an insult to the people that raised them. Who are our players that are now just being held morally accountable for the first time on honesty, respect, drugs, and gun violence?

Really? Rape is against the law and not only that it's a violation of someone's body and it's never consensual. Adultery is a violation of someone's marriage but it's consensual and again you're assuming coach Strong commited adultery. We all know the rapes happened at Baylor along with the cover up so it should be the bigger story period. Especially right now since it actually happened but seems like it's on the back burner.

I think you're missing my point ;)

Personally, I couldn't care less what someone does when they are off the clock. Obviously illegal actions come with consequences but as far as legal social or sexual choices go....meh.....it's your life.
That being said, if your employer has a certain image to maintain, contractually, then you might be up the creek.

They learned it by watching Baylor cover up rape and murder.
I assume your tongue was in cheek but ... at least get the allegations correct. Bliss never covered up a murder. He tried to cover up improprieties which would be uncovered by a murder investigation. BU never covered up a rape. The allegation is that Briles and/or others knew of a prior sexual assault in advance of granting a football scholarship.

When rape allegations are swept under the rug with a complicit university investigator... it does in fact seem like a cover up.

"A Baylor official testified the school investigated the woman’s complaint, but didn’t find enough evidence “to move forward.”

Baylor’s flimsy investigation, as outlined by assistant district attorney Hilary Laborde in court proceedings, comprised interviews with Ukwuachu, his accuser, and one friend of each. The school never reviewed the rape kit collected by the sexual assault nurse examiner.

Ukwuachu’s friend who was interviewed was running back Peni Tagive, who said he was present at the time of the incident — a notion roundly disputed by the victim — and witnessed no signs of struggle. However, Tagive endured a contempt-of-court citation rather than repeat that testimony under oath, according to Texas Monthly."

Covered up? As in shielding information from the police and DA? "Cover up" implies hiding things. What did they hide from the public? Everyone on this site has already educated us that we will never be able to trust a BU internal investigation, or the independent law firm from PA. that is investigating the matter. So its left to the authorities. And I have yet to see one single source that says BU "covered up" any evidence in this matter.

Maybe its a matter of semantics, but --- pile on BU all you want for not booting the rapist out immediately - no argument from me. But please make sure your loaded words, such as "cover up", are part of the evidence. Carry on.

Ummmm, there is one scenario that we have yet to explore.

It's a little bit of a different take.

Some may find it a little weird.

Honestly I've dated a few girls that were of this ilk. (Guilty pleasure)

But WHAT IF:

Charlie DID hit it and his wife knows about it because she hit it as well.......?

You following me?

I used to date a girl that loved the V as much as I did. (OMG the sex was almost as crazy as she was but she LOVED bringing home other chicks)

Ehhhhhh??? It's possible. It's totally possible in this day and age that they had a little swing swing fling fling going on in L-town. If so, I totally have to high 5 charlie for living outside the box with a wife that does as well.

Totally just realized that by posting this none of you will ever let me take out your sister or wife's sister....
.......

Definitely a different take. I'm beginning to understand why you never got married.

A pair of Kansas players were arrested after an alleged robbery the past weekend, according to a Lawrence Journal-World report.

Eric Rivers, a sophomore cornerback, and Kendall Duckworth, a freshman linebacker, were arrested and released Monday. The report identified Rivers and Duckworth as suspects in the alleged robbery of a Kansas student early Saturday morning. Neither suspect was armed, and the alleged victim was not injured in the incident.

Rivers was "dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules," Jayhawks coach David Beaty told the newspaper in an email. Rivers was also held Monday on suspicion of sexual battery and criminal restraint, after an alleged incident involving a female student on Sunday.

See some kids don't have core values instilled in them.

TX1972-----

Don't judge a brutha. Now honestly---- and be honest--- you're going to tell me that back in your 20's or before you were married (assuming you are) that if a 9.5 out of 10 was all up on you and you dated her only to find out she liked other 9.5's----- you would (in a gentlemanly fashion) tell her thanks, but no thanks?????

Methinks you're full of poop sir--- assuming you would say no-----

I threw it out there because whether many of you want to admit it or not (I get it for the guys that been married and out of the dating game for a while) but there are TONS of women that like a little V from time to time. Women have become more sexually liberal over the last 2 decades and especially the 20 something year olds, they experiment a lot more these days. Hell Katy Perry had a number one hit with "I kissed a girl........and I liked it".

Is it FOR everybody, no. But you've got swingers cruises, swingers clubs, Hedonism I and II in Jamaica--- and don't even get me started on the stuff in Europe that is nearly mainstream. All I am saying is this COULD be a POSSIBILITY that we have yet to explore.

See some kids don't have core values instilled in them.

Strong's core values have no impact on Kansas players. They only impact his players. Which one of our players doesn't have values of honesty, respect, and law instilled in them? Saying that we recruit players without those values is insulting every single one of those parents Strong won over. That's what the values are really for (winning the parents) They aren't there because we are recruiting players that don't understand the importance of honesty, respect, and following the rules.

Keep in mind that doing something wrong doesn't mean you were raised without values. It means you chose to disregard them. Every single day people do something wrong that they know is wrong and were raised to believe was wrong. We all speed every single day fully aware that the faster we drive the more likely we are to have a wreck, and fully aware of the legality of our speeding. We have all probably been held accountable for speeding via a speeding ticket, but yet we still do it.

A player that Charlie Strong recruited and coached under his core value umbrella is going to do something wrong. It doesn't mean he was raised without values. It means he chose to disregard them.

Sorry I was just speaking in general terms as in most schools have core values shit even this company I work for does. Like you said most of his core values are common sense pretty much. But as you can see some need to be reminded of them. And I agree to an extent that you can slip but some of these players take a slide to the nasty side. Sexual Battery and robbery are putting you in jail kind of mistakes not speeding down I-35 minor ones.

That's why I say they are more a bit than anything else. They are just there to sell the parents. No coach, organization, or parent doesn't believe in honesty, respect, and following the rules. Calling them "core values" just creates talking points for recruiting. Strong didn't create these core values because kids he's recruiting don't have them and need them, he created them so parents and recruits would buy in. Honesty, respect, and following the rules are virtues 99% of the population already aspires to with or without their coach or boss telling them to.

Someone that commits sexual battery doesn't do it because they weren't reminded it's wrong. They do it fully aware that it's wrong. Same with any crime or wrong doing no matter the level.

My responses were spurred by the below post. I don't believe the below to accurate at all. There isn't a single UT recruit that this describes, and their mammas would slap you in the face if this is how you described their upbringing.

"It is so basic it's almost comical. But with high school football players, in the NCAA, and in the NFL it is an epidemic! Drugs and guns run rapid in college athletics, and more and more cases of physical and sexual abuse of women does to. To players who have gotten away with everything and have had people turn a blind eye, or they have zero home life, these core values are the first time they have been held accountable for these 4 things in their life."

No, I just mean that you've been spoiled. Most of us haven't had that kind of opportunity. The closest I ever came was dating 2 girls who knew each other. They both dropped me. And that was at the height of the student rebellion (1970).

Maybe there is a NCAA Sex Club with chapters on all the college campus's, and when we play another team then everyone has a diff partner on Game Day from school to school..

Really I can't give a sh*t if CS got 4 pieces of Strange just as he wins some games and put us back on top again where we belong, Hell, I would buy him a years supply of Strange if he would Natl Championship or Big 12

LOL. That's definitely a different angle on the situation.

Agree. Urban Meyer and Tom Herman have the same core values but the media blew up Strong's because there were over 20 arrests of A&M guys that year.

Drugs are already against the law. It's already against every programs rules to do drugs.
There is so much grey area here. Schools administer their own drug tests and players can fail "x" amount of times before suspending them games etc. Coaches know when University drug test are going to be given and they will usually tell their players to clean up because in two weeks there will be a test. If a player fails a school test most of the time coaches will dish out some kind of other punishment, usually running, bleachers, etc. The tests that get you banned are drug tests from the NCAA and still coaches usually tell their players a few days in advance when those are coming.

You also have the conference level testing as well. Those are few and far between though.

You do usually get a heads up from the staff. But the heads up is usually intended for the guys that smoke the hippie lettuce.

Are you under the impression that because not doing drugs is a core value at Texas that no one on our football team is doing drugs?

Look, they claim big things come in small packages and Charlie being 5'5" would fit the small package part but for now there is only an alleged accusation of adultery and core value hypocrisy pending further disclosure or so I am told. Yes Charlie appears to like white women but that doesn't necessarily mean he was having an affair with this one. We need to let all of the facts come out before signing Strong up for any Big 12 sex clubs FlourBluff or buying him anything scandalous.

I was referring to all that swaping and threesome crap in the post above Bell! Don't even care about what they accuse him of..doesn't make me think any less of him, we all got skels in our closet somewhere in life , so why should he be different from us, Needs to be more emphasis on fielding a good team than private life BS...

It's a core value and they mean something right? Never mind that they mirror every institutions values. Core values are talking points to sell mommas on handing Strong their babies.

This response makes zero sense. Are you sure YOU weren't breaking the law, when you wrote it?

You said that CS's core values are just a bit, to sell the program to the parents. I said, if the core values are merely marketing, then why is CS sending starters home? You replied with the above.
