Thoughts on Utah?

Case McCoy would be in to watch that............
(too soon for that reference?)
No, I've been referencing that for years on here

If we show up like we did against Baylor, they will beat us like a rented mule!! Tom better have them prepared and they should be healed up, pissed and ready to play but I am not sure they will. The last thing we need is a poor performance like we have seen several times.

I’ve got to say that I’m going to have to wait until Dec. 27 to watch any bowl games worth a damn. That Wash./Boise St. was a snoozer I thought. Harsin seems to have regressed once he got out from underneath Peterson.

I’m interested in the OSU vs A&M game. To me OSU just isn’t very good this year and will probably struggle in their game.

I question how motivated Texas is going to be for the Alamo bowl game. My guess it that we'll see the same team that played Baylor show up. Utah, on the other hand, will be fired up to come to the great state of Texas, and they will be fired up to play The University of Texas. If Texas wins, I'll be very surprised.
I disagree. I think that are seriously hacked off by the way they have played and what has been said about them in the national media and go out there with a chip on their shoulder. That does not guarantee a win but I think they play well and frustrate Utah and I believe it is a game they can win..

Very very good defense.
But that qb tho..........
Oregon got pressure on their qb and to be honest he just didn’t look good. Couldn’t seem to improvise, arm strength seemed suspect. Blitz him and Texas can out athlete them like Oregon did.

Much of football outcomes doesn't have to do with superior strategy, and sometimes not even superior speed & strength. It's about confidence, emotion and extra effort. It's about trusting your teammates and not wanting to let them down.

You never know which Utah and which Texas is going to show up that day.

If you don't love your teammates (and coaches), you won't be in position to make the block or tackle. You won't bother to learn the playbook. You might not block hard for every back, much less every down.

On D, you'll do things selfishly, instead of freeing up your LBs or whatever your responsibility is. You won't will yourself to ignore exhaustion and injuries. You'll be "too tired" to pursue plays that go the opposite way. You won't take angles. You'll give up on plays.

And if you don't believe you can win, you can't.

Unless the basic lessons of football have somehow changed since the 70s and 80s. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Truth.

Many years ago I had the priveledge to meet a man that served with distinction in WWII and was also a college football player prior to the war. He told me the tightest bond he had with any individuals, was the bond that was created during combat. He said very closely behind those bonds, were the bonds with his college team mates. He drew several similarities between those very different but very similar relationships.

It really helped me put things in my life into perspective.

I've only seen them play once... watched most of their win over Colorado.

Frankly, they didn't impress me that much. #5? That seems WAY too high.

Am I missing something?
I don't know if OB forum posts can ever end up on Utah Ute bulletin boards, but after we drew Utah in the Alamo Bowl, I wanted this thread to disappear. Minimize what I said, just in case. When I wrote this, I was expecting to draw Notre Dame in the Camping World Bowl. That's what all the "experts" said.
