In summer I am very glad we children are so small,
For we can see a thousand things that men can't see at all.

~~~~~~~~~~ Laurence Alma-Tadema
I don't know about little girls (of any age), but little boys will turn a rock over just to see what's lurking underneath. Worms and bugs and God knows what, and they all wiggle and scamper in the light of day, their great hide-out having been exposed. The boy may be very young, but it is HE who has made this marvelous discovery! Or go watch little kids play baseball or softball or soccer. Invariably, one or more of them will at some point "discover" a butterfly, a ground squirrel, or on occasion a burrowing owl, any one of which at that moment is far more important than the game.
A child's eyes see many wonderful things, for which adult eyes no longer have time. Helen Keller said "The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision." Gulp. Sometimes we need to take the time necessary to let younger folks show us the way. Our child-like views give way, as they should, to the maturity of adult perspectives, but just as we can use that maturity to teach our kids, so too can they teach us, remind us, of the wonders around us.
What can we learn today from those who are younger than we? There's a big difference between being child-like, and being child-ish. Savor it.
Love to all,
NT
