Whats the deal with him? McCoughney called him in a video about coming to Texas and he has yet to be contacted by Herman according to 24/7???
Yet to be contacted by Herman? What are you talking about?? This kid has been a priority target for years, on campus multiple times.Whats the deal with him? McCoughney called him in a video about coming to Texas and he has yet to be contacted by Herman according to 24/7???

Uhhh because the schools with the largest and wealthiest alumni groups will be paying kids ridiculous sums of money to be their spokesman for their auto dealership or computer company or construction contractor or oil company etc etc.I don't think you do the Matt M thing if the Bama rumors aren't a strong possibility.
How does the NCAA allowing getting paid for endorsements in college change the recruiting landscape?

The word is that they will more or less set prices for what can be paid for certain types of advertising. More or less, fair market value. So if they determine an hour of autograph signing at a car dealership is worth 1k, that is the max that any kid could get for doing that event regardless of school.Uhhh because the schools with the largest and wealthiest alumni groups will be paying kids ridiculous sums of money to be their spokesman for their auto dealership or computer company or construction contractor or oil company etc etc.
Lou, Tommy Brockermeyer and James Brockermeyer are sons of former UT great Blake Brockermeyer. I believe they are brothers, not twins, but they are in the same grade. Tommy is the number one offensive tackle in the nation and James is the number 2 center in the nationSorry guys, been under a rock,,,are these two brothers/twins or what? thx
I should have been more specific.Uhhh because the schools with the largest and wealthiest alumni groups will be paying kids ridiculous sums of money to be their spokesman for their auto dealership or computer company or construction contractor or oil company etc etc.
Because we will be flat out buying players.I should have been more specific.
How does the UT fan base being one of the largest in the nation, and endorsement deal(s) potential based on those numbers, counter the outright buying of player services by other teams without a comparable fan base size.
Because we will be flat out buying players.
Wipe that surprised look off your face. You heard me.
We will get all our big money donors and our lawyers to find every fvcking loophole in the NCAA code as well as the tax codes. The first five years or so of this will be the wild west. It will be an arms race. There will be billions and billions of dollars paid to players over the first five years. Every swinging dick with an axe to grind and dreams of a natty will be forming LLC's and LLP's and Ltd's in order to siphon money to that 5 star QB or running back or all American linebacker just so he won't go to Alabama or Clemson or Ohio State. This new rules helps only the largest and wealthiest schools---- like us.
Expect our brightest legal minds to subvert every rule without actually breaking it.
Another thought is, does COVID change where kids go?
-Kids stay closer to home?
-Kids with unemployed parents chase the money more?
- a mix of the two cancelling any overall affect out?
There was an interesting post on Surly about the 3 big festivals(ACL, SXSW, JMBLYA) and money paid to influencers to attend sponsor events and be seen with, and post to social media about, product X can be much higher than traditional endorsement deals and there are very few schools that can compete once those kind of influencer opportunities are considered.
We haven't even scratched the surface as to how much money we are going to be able to spend on these kids. Think about Formula 1 and when it comes to town. If you've got a possible Heisman contender on your team and Ferrari wants to do a home town party and attract attention, how much money do you think a kid could get offered to show at that race and get the home town TVs to tune in. The arms race of college football is about to begin.
