College coaching staffs are working to put the finishing touches on their 2018 recruiting classes, but they’re also keeping a keen eye on the top talent in the 2019 class. One player who has captured the attention of coaches around the country is E.J. Ndoma-Ogar. The Allen offensive lineman is already holding 35 scholarship offers, including one from Texas, which was extended earlier this month.
“It was great. I was waiting for that offer,” Ndoma-Ogar said. “It’s great to have. Me and coach (Derek) Warehime, we always had a good relationship. He was always telling me that the time was coming. When that time came, it was awesome.”
Recently, Ndoma-Ogar took unofficial visits to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. He said he’ll likely take more visits this spring, with a stop in Austin a strong possibility.
“I’ll be coming up on a few more visits. I think I’ll see Texas this spring but not sure when,” Ndoma-Ogar said.
A four-star prospect and Rivals250 member, Ndoma-Ogar does not have an official list of favorites. He does have a strong interest in Texas after having visited the UT campus previously.
“I just like the relationships that the coaches have with the players. The tradition is amazing,” Ndoma-Ogar said. “You have players that go to the pros. When I went to a visit one time, I talked to Connor Williams. He said this place is awesome, you can never get a bad word on Texas.”
Texas recently reshuffled it’s offensive coaching staff by bringing in Herb Hand as co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach. Ndoma-Ogar has some familiarity with Hand from his time at Auburn.
“Coach Hand, I’ve talked to him. I went to visit Auburn when I was at IMG. I got to talk to him a little, he followed me on Twitter,” Ndoma-Ogar said. “But this move, I didn’t know it was going to happen. I’m happy for it. That’s a deadly combo. Him and coach Warehime, that’s ridiculous. It’s awesome.”
