I know everyone is focused on the second down play on the goal line. I think there were two critical plays, that had they gone Texas’ way, the game would not have come down to the goal line play.
Play 1. Texas ties game at 14. Defense holds Ohio State to three and out. On Texas third down, Ewers overthrows wide open Golden, and Texas had to punt. Texas had all the momentum, and had Ewers completed that pass, I think Texas wins the game.
Play 2. After Texas punt, OSU facing 3rd and 8. Officials do not call obvious holding on Right Tackle, and Howard completes pass for 18 yards, to keep drive going. OSU eventually scores winning TD.
