You know the why. Dude can coach.

The powers that be don't want him because he has some stank on him. Serious stank.

But with the NCAA ruling that players can now be paid for their likeness this takes MOST of the stank off Urban. The coach that beat his wife, I'm calling that a wash. I think she beat on him just as much as he beat on her. I'm not condoning it in any way , but like Chris Rock said, you gotta find somebody that likes what you like.
"Two crack heads can stay together forever..."

Urban is a known cheater and the NCAA has basically taken cheating off the table, so why are we acting all high and mighty about hiring a guy that literally can't cheat anymore?

What say ye?

clob, I'm with you. I want to win. I'm tired of Texas being a national laughingstock. There is no reason why Texas shouldn't be an elite program and in the top five every year. CDC and the brass needs to take the damn prima donna glasses off about being so picky. Texas has eliminated some good coaches from consideration over the years because of this attitude. It's time to stop with the mentality of, "the coach has to mesh with the suits, hob knob, play golf, wine and dine, coddle their egos, etc". It should be about WINNING, and winning first. Not about "the right fit at Texas" with the suits and stroking the egos of a bunch of rich old men.

I was having a conversation with a long time booster a couple of weeks ago about Meyer. He was adamant that there is no way that Texas would ever hire him. He said, "Texas would hire Switzer before they would hire Meyer", and he also said, "Texas would shut the program down before they would ever hire Meyer". This is the kind of mentality that I'm talking about and it needs to change. Meyer would be a home run hire for Texas, but from what I'm hearing, Texas won't even pick up the phone to call him, which is ridiculous.

Hiring Meyer to replace Herman is epic on waaaaaaaaay too many levels. I mean really... the story line is endless. But me thinks Meyer may be at SUC before we contemplate the possibility...and that changes the circumstances.

Not sure in what capacity for Major but the rumors are flying around that he may be back in some capacity. Clob have you heard any of these rumors?

No difference between him and Briles but when I brought Briles name up you said you just didn’t want to win THAT way? So what’s the difference besides semantics?

By a lot of accounts, Herman is not really enjoyable to be around, always wanting to be looking like the smartest guy in the room etc so I’m not sure how the UT brass concluded he was the best candidate based on the criteria you listed. He doesn’t seem very Mack like in social settings.

It's just a gamble. If you get lucky and catch a saban while he's the new young buck, you have a winning program for a couple decades. Hire the proven top name and you either win for a couple yrs before they retire or you get them on their way down. Roll the dice.

No there's a huge difference. Urban Meyer cheats. He just does. Urban didn't turn a blind eye to twenty women being accosted by his football players. He tried to intervene between a bat sh!t crazy coach and his bat sh!t crazy wife out of respect for his mentor, the father of said coach. Urban Meyer didn't hop on a plane with a young black recruit and say "Do you like white girls? Those white girls are going to loooove you!" (Kendal Briles)
You think daddy didn't know son was doing that?
Urban used $100 dollar hand shakes by boosters and obviously a lot of play for pay.

But now that the NCAA has basically made play for pay legal, urban loses much of his repetiot. You can't cheat if it ain't cheating. This isn't winning at all costs-- this is taking the NCAAs new rule and using it to our utmost advantage.

no thanks. dirty coach, dirty programs.

he constantly cheats and takes the low road. the NCAA lowering the bar just extends how far he can overreach (underreach? reach around?)

The next Aaron Hernandez will love it in Austin!
Exactly! Urban turned his eye to much more than most are admitting. Hernandez didn’t just become a psychopath bisexual serial killer after he left college LOL

Having said that I think Briles and Meyer are damn good coaches and both would show results on the field that UT covets.

I remember the Kansas fans all up in arms about Mangino ‘yelling’ at players and he grabbed one on the sideline, gasp. They got rid of him because they didn’t want to win like that. Chucklz how’d that end up working out for them?

What specifically? All I have ever heard is hearsay and assumption based after the fact. Urban is shady no doubt though.

At the very least, Texas needs to give Meyer a call. He's one of the 3 best college football coaches out there, and he's just sitting in the press booth. The alternative is to give Herman more time, and I don't think he deserves more time. Rhule is doing pretty well in his 3rd season, and he's at Baylor for heaven's sake. I think this season is indicative of what we can expect Herman to deliver; 4 losses, 3 ugly wins, and maybe 1 game where the team played up to its ability.

We need to call GhostBusters or someone!

Losing to TCU and ISU unacceptable. Fire Tom Herman NOW! And get someone in here who knows how to manage the pressures of a big time U and COACH. Sick of this #)-;-

You’re sick of it because you’re including Strong losing seasons with Hermans current record which are so far winning seasons. That’s like your boss including the guy before you f-ups with yours but his were helleva lot worse. I get the frustration but what is firing him right now gonna do?
