Man I am old. I remember when we played Penn St. in the Cotton Bowl, Joe Paterno’s first years as coach. It was so cold when we (LHB) marched in the parade before the game fountains we frozen and putting a brass mouthpiece to lips was like that kid who licked the flagpole in .... damn can’t remember the name of the movie. A Christmas Story?

Anyway Penn St. loved the weather and beat us. Was that 1973? Not many points scored if I remember correctly.

In 72 in Cotton Penn 30-Texas 6 and 96 Fiesta-Penn 38-Texas 15, and if I remember we played them in the Meadowlands in a reg game, forgot the year..

You know the why. Dude can coach.

The powers that be don't want him because he has some stank on him. Serious stank.

But with the NCAA ruling that players can now be paid for their likeness this takes MOST of the stank off Urban. The coach that beat his wife, I'm calling that a wash. I think she beat on him just as much as he beat on her. I'm not condoning it in any way , but like Chris Rock said, you gotta find somebody that likes what you like.

Urban is a known cheater and the NCAA has basically taken cheating off the table, so why are we acting all high and mighty about hiring a guy that literally can't cheat anymore?

What say ye?
ultimately you need to ask yourself one question:
are you willing to hire urban and suffer the consequences of what he will leave in 4 or 5 years when he leaves due to health issues. he allowed FL to go rogue and he was outside the ncaa guidelines at osu. he'll win but at what cost. so really the question is will he win enough to negate the ncaa sanctions and/or bad press that will come?

Ohio State seems to be struggling as well

Simple answer. YES.

Bottom line is, we all want Texas football to get back to winning and competing for championships. We're all frustrated. Some are making excuses for Herman. Injuries and circumstances happen. It happens to every team, but you've got to overcome that. Bottom line is, Texas needs to win games. What is disappointing is seeing Texas make the same questionable coaching decisions and mistakes on the field week after week and the regression of the program since the LSU game. Herman needs to get this turned around pronto, or he's going to get run.

your aren't wrong but go watch lsu play, watch osu, ou and other elite level teams and they play hard. you can see their passing game concepts and see the physicality of their olines. texas doesn't play hard or smart. texas is as average as you can be.

that is 100% on herman.

Art Briles says hi. Landed at a Texas high school and got caught with two kids from California playing on his team living with an ex-player of Briles. The district disqualified both players after the truth came out about who they were living with and their real address. Moral of this story: once a cheater always a cheater.

Fact check: with all due respect, there has not been one allegation of “cheating” at Baylor.

They were from Colorado. And your point is addressed and fits my narrative. Paying players is no longer illegal. That's Urban's real secret. Yes, he's recruited and coached turds and a murderer---but he didn't make Hernandez kill that dude anymore than he made him kill himself.

Gloves are off dude. An arms race is about to begin. Until the NCAA can figure out just exactly how they can get their hands around this likeness pay/play deal, the rules are going to get stretched like a Thai hooker's cooch during fleet week. If Barry Switzer were still in the game he'd have a field day.
