USC and UCLA to the big 10

Meh, I lost all care about traditions when b12 imploded the 1st time. It's not like traditions weren't broken/established many many times before in the last 100yrs. Remember, b12 was a baby as far as conferences go.

We'll be fine as long as UT stays out in front of the ever changing landscape. Schools that tie themselves at the hip to other local schools are the ones that get left behind. Roll with the punches, embrace the suck.
Don't forget about pour the money in and then pour some more. Today's game.

Completely understand. I do hate the boring games that national conferences conjure up. Interest begins locally and increases when teams play nationally for Titles.

One thing that comes to mind. I think ND will go to the Big. Generations past from the Big have hated ND. It will be interesting to see how that marriage works out.... If ND goes to the Big, then I think Oregon follows but that is where it will stop for now. The ACC gor is going to be impossible to crack for a long while.

This is where a possible benefit for Texas looms. If a sufficient amount of teams leave the B12 to join with the Pac teams to create a conference then we are out of the B12 GOR.
My guess is that which conference is willing to let ND keep their contact with NBC. I don't know how much it's worth but I'm sure it's a lot.

Yes, nuter dame ain't the program they pass themselves off to be these days
6 of the last 7 years have been double digit win seasons. While they haven’t won a championship recently they have been a pretty good program this past decade. Brian Kelly left them in a good spot.

It's only 15 mill a year. I suspect NBC is going to have to increase that by 85 mill to keep pace.
The ACC desperately needs ND more then the Big X does. They already have a loose leaf relationship with the ACC. They have Clemson and they need a second team and ND will bring viewership. I don't know how accurate the story is but I've heard that the ACC is pursuing WV to get up to 16.

Last year the Pac XII flat out rejected the Big X's proposal to merge. They desperately need to have any alliance so we're going to have to wait and see.

I completely agree, especially as far as Texas schools go. We have a lot of good ones here. Obviously everything is about the all mighty dollar and media rights now pay waaaaaay more than butts in bleachers. It's been years since I've paid $400 for a pair of seats to watch us beat up on UTEP.

As recently as 2000/2001 the tickets $30 for any seat in the house and $35 for OK and a&m.

The Big XII and the remaining Pac XII need to merge. Last year the Big XII wanted to and the Pac XII said no. I guess the Big XII got their feelings hurt because they just said that right now they're not pursuing any Pac XII teams.

Big XII and Pac XII please find a way to get together. It would be 22 teams. Put one Big XII team in there and it's 11 teams per division. Now they have some pretty good TV markets in there. If you're the Pac XII you're joining forces with the best basketball conference in the country. If you're the Big XII your getting the tv markets in the bay area, Seattle, Portland, my even SLC.

There's still enough teams in Texas to draw tv interest. And Cincinnati and Orlando are better than nothing.

In fb there's a chance that Baylor, Cincinnati, and OR have a chance to be somebody. They would still have ST for baseball and women's hoops. It just makes sense.

Oh how things have changed. $200 a seat at dkr (non-donation civilian) got us around 35-45yd line 20rows up. Great view of the entire field but damn, too expensive for a tune up game.

At home the beer is affordable, parking is free & I don't have to pay for a hotel or hope my DD is legal to drive. Haven't been back since.

This seems to be the only logical conclusion to surviving beyond the next 5yrs out. I don't think the commissioners have the balls to make the right decisions, hence the moves that have already been announced. Be proactive not reactive.

Looks like the New Big 12 is eyeing 6 pac 12 teams
Imo Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State, would be perfect for the Pac XII. I'll have to look up the other 2.

I just looked up the article you mentioned. Getting WA and OR would be a huge get. The Pac XII has always been the been the big city conference ever noticed that?

And as the SC and UCLA defections have shown is it's about markets. The Big XII could add the Seattle, and Portland, markets. They could also add the Tuscon, Phoenix, Denver, and SLC markets. Just huge. A word of caution. WA and OR would be pressured to bring in ORS, and WS.

USC fans are getting ready for GameDay they see the flat brown and yellow corn fields of West Lafayette, Indiana. SC fans say you can see it forever now that's it's been chopped down.

They say who needs places like Seattle or Tuscon when you can be in a place like West Lafayette? In November. When it's 30 degrees.

To your point - the greatness of CFB is its regional nature. My prediction - in a few years the interest in CFB will be due to fantasy FB, and not the games. Just like the NFL.

The SEC is regional and should continue to be regional. I don't think that there are any teams out there apart from ND that will move the TV $$$ needle. I think the SEC stays at 16.

Until it's final about the Pac XII. Let's look at the Big XII now. For all of Baylor and Cincinnati's success, in the last 10 years I don't know if they'll can ever reach elite status. Let's look at Baylor's success the last 10 years. Also their alums have ponied up the money and their facilities are as good as anyone else's.

But they can't sign the elite players in TX. I've looked at their early recruiting and there's nothing that jumps out at you. I don't know why that is. Is it just to religious a school and some players just don't want to do that. Diadevic is most qualified to answer those questions about Baylor. Being to religious is just a guess on my part.

Dyk that besides TX and OK no other Big XII school has ever finished in the to 25 in recruiting?

Not once.

You are still going to have regional games.
The real irony of this whole thing is Texas A&M left the big 12 to get away from Texas. 10 years later they are back with Texas. Colorado left the big 12 for “stability” 10 years later they are going to be back in the big 12 lol

Markets are nice, but eyeballs are what really matters, and too many people in Pac-10/12 country just don't care. If TV markets were all that mattered, then the Pac would have never been in trouble to begin with, and the SEC would have crap for TV contracts.

They are not making a commitment to winning OR and WA have but that's it for the Pac XII. The other Pac XII schools spend less on athletics then everyone else and you can see the results.

By comparison the Big XII is spending money and some schools are having a lot of success. BYU, Baylor, and Cincinnati come to mind.

But time is running out for the rest of the Pac XII and the Big XII.

FWIW - on 105.3 the Fan in Dallas today, they were having a discussion about a rumor that the PAC XII Presidents were actually considering dropping football and bball, to focus on their "mission" of education.

And many more will follow.

The only reason “conferences” exist is for sports. If the “pac12” drops football and basketball there is no “pac12”
