I wanted to get this note in Thursday's war room, but my source did not get back with me until Friday. It is a little late, but still worth passing along.

I wanted to know if any players have stood out during fall camp and received two names: Jake Oliver (receiver) and Antwuan Davis (cornerback).

From what I was told, Oliver continues to make plays each day during practice. Oliver played extremely well during spring practice, and that streak has continued in the fall. The new system by offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert has helped Oliver so much, he is in the mix for playing time this season.

As of now, it has not been determined where Oliver will be in the slot rotation. However, Oliver is expected to have an opportunity to contribute on offense this season.

In addition, Davis has been a pleasant surprise in camp. He has shown the ability to make plays in the secondary and has become a much better defender. Davis has held his own against Texas' wideouts during practice. In fact, going against those talented group of receivers has been Davis into a better player.

Davis is currently in contention to rotate at the nickle cornerback spot behind P.J. Locke. That shows how much improvement Davis has made since last season.

Just in case you did not know, Texas will hold its second scrimmage on Saturday morning. Texas coach Charlie Strong is slated to address the media once that practice is over, which should be sometime around 11 a.m. Before you ask, I do not know if it will be on LHN.
