- I mentioned this in the Deep Dig Live: Defense, but RB Kirk Johnson was sidelined for the Notre Dame game and a source close to the brothers said he could be out for an extended period of time. Johnson came back to practice (and looked good at the ones open to the media), but he reportedly had more setbacks through fall camp in a return from November ACL surgery. The general thought was that he may be back within a week or two, but now it is seeming like the timetable for him to get back may be a little longer than that. I get the idea that Johnson needs to make sure he's not rushing anything with his process.
- On WR Collin Johnson, the same person said he may be in a small bit of the doghouse for doing something at practice that may have pissed off one of his coaches last week. It seems his lack of playing time during the Notre Dame game had to do both with this and also Armanti Foreman reportedly having a very good week after returning from his ankle injury. I'd expect we see plenty of Collin Johnson next week against UTEP.
