It appears that the waiting game has officially begun.
As reported earlier today, Orangebloods was able to confirm that UT representation met in Columbus with former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer within the last 24 hours.
In talking with a number of people on Wednesday in an effort to gain details on what took place, it appears the only detail that truly matters is this ... Texas is now waiting.
"The real question is whether Urban wants to coach again," the source said without giving out any other details.
That's an answer that no one in the Texas athletic department has an answer to it seems. The general feeling that exists now is a bit of helplessness, as it merely comes down to Meyer and his family deciding in which direction they want to go.
"I don't think there's anything else we can do," one high-level Texas official said via text message. "We're just going to wait and when he's ready, he'll tell us what he wants to do. There's NO deadline."
Earlier on Wednesday, I reported that BOR chairman Kevin Eltife was involved in the meeting that took place in Ohio, but multiple sources told me later in the morning that "Eltife was not in Ohio yesterday."
In circling back to the source that told me that Eltife had been in Ohio, I was told, "Eltife is in charge. That's all I can say."
Regardless of the who inside of the what, when and where part of the discussions in Columbus, what matters most is that Texas is now waiting.
When I asked a high-ranking university official how he would handicap what will happen, the reply was reflective of the seemingly overall mood of the room.
"I'd give you a number if I had the slightest idea. I don't," the source said.
