Friday 9 p.m. update - Another 2019 OOS offer, this time to LB Donte Starks.

Friday 10:40 a.m. update -
Tom Herman continues to make the rounds. Today, he stopped by to see top 2019 OL target Branson Bragg.

Thursday 5 p.m. -
A couple tweets about this weekend's official visitors, DT Moro Ojomo and WR Lawrence Keys.

I have confirmed that Texas will host Rice commitment Luke Brockermeyer for an unofficial visit this weekend. Brockermeyer, who committed to Rice back in June, took an official visit to Oregon State earlier this month.

The Fort Worth All Saints product is the son of former Texas offensive lineman Blake Brockermeyer. I'm told it's not out of the question that Brockermeyer could be offered a scholarship by Texas, but that has not been decided yet.

Here's some senior film on Brockermeyer, who goes 6-3 and 205 pounds. I'll try to catch up with him directly to get a preview of the visit.

From earlier today, Texas offers four players from Loganville (GA) Grayson, all of whom are in the Rivals250. Texas had already offered one player from the school, DB Kenyatta Watson, who will visit UT next month.

Interesting stop here by Tom Herman and Herb Hand. Bixby does have an OL committed to Tulsa who hasn't signed (in addition to one that signed with OSU). Have also heard they have a 2019 kid but that one seems unlikely based on what I've heard.

Tuesday 4:15 p.m. update:

A couple new offers out:

Big-time 2020 athlete Dwight McGlothern, Jr. (New Caney)

And 2019 defensive back Bobby Wolfe

Tuesday 1:05 p.m. update - Wide receiver Jalen Preston confirmed to OB via text that he is planning to visit Texas on the weekend of February 2.

Preston had mentioned back during the week of the Under Armour All-American game the possibility of visiting UT, but this one comes as a bit of a surprise with Texas still going all-in on guys like Joshua Moore and Lawrence Keys.

Of note, Preston, who has been committed to Texas A&M since July, is supposed to visit A&M this weekend so that could certainly impact things as well.

Also, Texas continues to talk with Schertz Clemens WR Tommy Bush, including an in-home visit last weekend. Bush told me today that he's still unsure who he'll take his fifth official visit to, or if he'll take his fifth visit at all. He did tell me Texas is still under consideration for that visit if he does in fact take it.

Bush has previously visited Nebraska, Georgia, Michigan State and Ole Miss.

Monday 6:45 p.m. update - Wide receiver Josh Moore, who visited last weekend.

Monday 5:10 p.m. update
- There's been talk of Texas A&M commitment Tyree Wilson visiting Texas this weekend, but he just told another reporter that he will not be taking an official visit to Texas.

We'll check on this one again later in the week because I wouldn't be shock to see it change again, but that's the latest word as of a little bit ago.

Monday 10:30 a.m. update - The Texas Longhorns picked up a big defensive line commitment last week when defensive end Daniel Carson gave Texas a pledge on Friday. With a little more than two weeks to go until National Signing Day, the Longhorn coaching staff continues to look for other options to fill out its defensive line class.

Over the weekend, Texas hosted a handful of official visitors, including Washington D.C. St. John’s College High standout Caleb Okechukwu. The Under-Armour All-American said the weekend in Austin went really well, and he liked everything he saw from the Texas staff.

“It was cool. It was great. They gave me the whole rundown, the coaches showed how much they wanted me,” Okechukwu said. “They didn’t just have me down there to have me down there, they showed me a lot. I saw the facilities, saw coach Herman’s house, it was great.”

The 6-4, 240-pound Okechukwu will take a visit to Tennessee next weekend and then finish things up with a visit to Arkansas on February 2. Those two schools will draw strong consideration, but Okechukwu said Texas set the bar high last weekend.

"I’m looking forward to Tennessee. I'm definitely ready to get out there, see everything they have to offer,” Okechukwu said. “But right now, I'm really feeling Texas."

With two visits remaining on the schedule, Okechukwu’s recruitment could extend until National Signing Day. It’s possible he’ll make a private decision before then, but he does want to give Arkansas and Tennessee fair consideration.

“I’m still weighing all my options. I might commit to a school in the next two weeks, but I probably won’t say anything,” he said.

As it stands heading into his final two visits, Texas and Tennessee are Okechukwu’s top two. Arkansas will have its chance to close the gap on the final visit weekend of the recruiting season, but Okechukwu has the Volunteers and Longhorns holing the slight edge coming down the stretch.

Okechukwu is rated as a three-star prospect.
