You know clob94 has good sources and I gotta admit he's usually spot on. And I swore to myself I wouldn't do this but I guess I can't resist.

Well if UM says no who out there can even come close to his resume? Well perhaps Mario Cristobal at OR. He played and started on 2 nc teams and was a rs fros on another one. He was an asst coach under NS on another nc team. He won the recruiter of the year.

People here say that CDC wants a hc that has won at least 2 places. He took over at FL INT. And in 6 years he took them from nothing to something. But at a place like there you're going to have a down year and in his 6th year he was fired. And everyone even Gameday criticized the decision.

At OR he won a conference title and a RB in his 2nd year which is 1 more title than TH has won in 4.

At AL and OR he has recruited and developed elite talent. Next year OR will have six 5* players on their roster next year and one of them, Kayvon Thibodeaux, is a certain superstar. He's had 3 top ten classes and 2 top 5 classes the last two years right up there with AL and tOSU.

Finally this guy's charisma quotient is sky high. You can see it in the way he carries himself. He has a towering presence he's 6' 4" 285 lbs. He's remarkably fit. He's well dressed he was named the best dressed coach. His specialty is the ol and lord knows our ol needs good coaching. And after a 2 year application process he was offered a job as a secret service agent. Honest.

His background is such that maybe he can take TX back elite status. One thing I'm lousy at who would be a good coach 😂 but I'm honest enough to admit it. Aw UM will probably be hired anyway.

I agree with you on this one Cali. In a prior post (which you can find) I provided supporting arguments for why Cristobal would be my backup choice. He’s learned from and dealt with Saban. And, he’s having to deal with Nike and Phil Knight - akin to our BMDs.
Recruits love him although he’s a tough son of a gun being an ex-OL.

Yep he would be one of my top non urban guys but he’s got a nice gig

I've read that he has already told CDC thanks but no thanks. In fact, several coaches CDC reached out to have said no. That includes him, Fleck, and Mullen.

Fleck is step down and Mullen is a lateral move. I don't believe this. It would cost us money with no benefit.

Do you mean Texas would be a lateral move for mullien? I agree there. He would be a massive upgrade for Texas though. Mullien is miles better than Herman.

If true, Herman is staying. I don't think they will make a 25 million dollar lateral move at best. The only way out would be to start dropping bags like there is no tomorrow. I guess we could slide to the bottom but I don't think they will take this option. It will be time to roll out the dough. Is Herman above this? I don't think so.

Bob Stoops might be looking for work. He currently does commercials for a OKC Heating and Air Company and it was reported he is going to help coach OU during their current Covid crisis.

I agree! We have to start dropping bags! Even if CDC was considering keeping TH another year, the way the media has publicly crucified TH, you can not go into next year with a lame duck HC. His job would be on the line every game - not good for recruiting, not a good psych to have to win games.

If Herman stays, they will refresh his image by winning some big recruiting battles in the 2021 class 💰💰💰💰. They will also take away his headset so that he cannot meddle in the offense.

I tend to believe this more than anything. The idiots in and around Texas can't stay out of their own way. "Inside" information isn't so "inside." Every Tom, Dick and Harry will pay $9.95 to get information you can find for free.

I would imagine Urban has been turned off, just like I'm sure Saban was turned off. I'm sure both slightly considered the job until our dipshit media hacks talked about it EVERY ****ING DAY.

To be fair it is the same at Alabama, LSU, Florida, tOSU, and all the big programs. Lots of leaked and made up info floating around for click bait.

Art Briles! He's got Mount Vernon in the Final 8. He took a BU program from the toilet to a 2 time conference champ. He was given an exoneration letter from the Baylor BOR. The guy wins every where he goes, and churns out pro talent with 3 star recruits. And he puts out an exciting brand of ball. Plus he probably would come pretty cheap.

And he's better than Herman...so there's that

Well getting back to the thread starter. When the new coach is named more than money, recruiting, winning championships, beating OK, the most pressing issue is the Eyes of Texas issue.

Without going into background, and everyone knows it anyway, this issue is very real and it has everyone taking sides against each other. I really think it has hurt our season. I hope it's the first thing the new coach deals with. We need a coach with real leadership skills, someone who commands respect immediately.

I think UM is that kind of guy and I think MC is to. I hope whoever it is takes charge of this immediately.

The big difference between the Saban situation and this situation as I see it is that everyone surrounding the University has been served a massive slice of humble pie for 10 years. Much much more than one slice I might add. This lends itself to shutting up and looking for a solution even to the point of looking in the mirror and knowing your part of the problem.

If Biden is given the presidency and Yellen gets confirmed, how much inflation do you expect over the next 2-5 years? Perhaps the deal we strike now with UM or whoever won't seem like a lot 5 years down the road if the inflation occurs as some experts predict.

As much fun as it would be to watch y’all ride off into the sunset for the next 10 years with a way past his prime coach, even I would have to frown on this idea. Stoops is not the answer for a team looking for championships at this point in his life.

when Stoops did the XFL thing it gave an insight into his thinking. He was trying to get the band back together so to speak with players and coaches. Stoops hired Hal Mumme, who he’s always been enamored with as his OC.How’d that work out. There’s a reason Mumme has never been a big time OC or coach.

Lastly, the fact that a Hall of Fame coach would go coach in a wrasslin’ league is a joke imo.

Don't forget he also had a Heisman winner

I wanted Art before Charlie and still do the guy knows football and every Texas high school coach in the State! He was in a catch 22 at Baylor

You'd take a PR hit on Briles to start with for sure, but he can dang sure coach. I just think UT is too scared of the PR mess that comes with it. I think someone takes him soon because he will put trophies in the case.
I think the BOR there cleared him, right? Of course I feel he had to know.

Every head coach knows or has a damn good idea. They have several layers of protection and indemnity built in to each program for the HC.

Stoops knew how to do it. He was able to act like a choirboy and still play Mixon and Westbrook, and recruit the TE from Mizzou. Baylor, meanwhile, threw Briles under the bus, then paid him millions, then after destroying (and paying) him, stated:

“In particular, at this time we are unaware of any situation where you personally had contact with anyone who directly reported to you being the victim of sexual assault or that you directly discouraged the victim of an alleged sexual assault from reporting to law enforcement or University officials. Nor are we aware of any situation where you played a student athlete who had been found responsible for sexual assault."

This certainly puts him a level above Jimbo Fisher. Free Art Briles and hire him!

If the dems get the senate then AOC will be running the country. At this point, it doesn't matter. There has been so much destruction done to small businesses that employment will never recover without a complete default on US debt. The lower skilled worker is going to suffer greatly because inflation will occur in the things that matter... food, gas, electricity, commodities in general. UBI is their answer. It's late stage theatrics in the collapse. Anyway, the worst issues will come from the right which will ignore the dictates of the left that violate constitutional rights. I think our current form of government may collapse by 2024 and then the currency. We will see. Football won't matter.

Oil markets pre date the DJIA by 10 years. They have a correlation with the amount of credit available in the future(think surging bond yields). Oil markets crashed in 2014 and have not recovered. This details a dark economic period after 2024. I'm not Kreskin but I used this indicator in 2018 to signal the correction that happened then. I believe the current theatre is occurring to prepare for the upcoming demographic catastrophe in retirement and social security by expanding the currency reserves held by banks. The 2024 crash will probably be the beginning of the end for fiat currency. Don't hold secured debt. Put yourself in a position to pay off unsecured debt with inflated dollars by owning a business that can quickly adjust to inflation. If not allowed by the banks, then default on it. I could go on but this is a sports board.

Listen this is what Art Briles would bring to the table. Offense and uniform combinations. That's it. That's all he cared about. His recruiting was good but not elite. Defense and special teams was what somebody else did. On defense he had a lousy coaching staff. He let Phil Bennett hire his cronies and the results spoke for themselves. Because PB played a lot of on field thugs ( Dixon, Morton, and Oakman) they got called for a lot of penalties. Defense, special teams, and penalties, costed Baylor to lose the 2 biggest games in Briles career. They lost a 20 point 4thq lead in the 2015 CB because of it. And did you ever notice all the bb scores his team had? And he'll never get away wearing those uniforms Baylor wore at TX. Not at all. Just because he's at TX doesn't mean he'll recruit better.
