Artificial intelligence is coming whether you like it or not. Facial recognition software is already so insanely accurate that prosthetics can't fool it. It's being sold to the general public as "cool technology" that can help find murderers or locate kidnapped children. In reality, it's about control. Control of your actions which leads very slowly to control of your thoughts.
For centuries we as humans have had "free thinkers" living in our society. Back in the old days those people were called "philosophers". Philosophers would question what they saw in modern society and in modern man and others would read and learn from this and start thinking for themselves. Philosophers were jailed, beheaded, burned at the stake and even drawn and quartered. Sometimes Philosophers lead people to commit civil unrest and even overthrow their ruling class or government. Philosophers are dangerous to certain "organized" establishments. By controlling your actions, businesses who are in league with governments--- Google, Amazon, Facebook, Nike (with China) etc etc can control not only your actions but your habits. IE what you buy, where you shop, who you interact with etc.
By controlling these things, they can slowly start to manipulate and then control your thought process. Once they control your thought process, they can control your thoughts. Once they control your thoughts, the control you.
