Even if the FBI identifies an American citizen as an ISIS sympathizer, we can block them from flying on a plane but we can't block them from buying a gun.

A quote from this article.

NRA spokeswoman Jennifer Baker pointed to past instances where innocent people were added to the watch list either in error or as the result of tenuous ties to others involved in suspicious activities. She stressed that the NRA doesn’t oppose denying terrorists firearms, but said the group wants to ensure that Americans who are wrongly on the list are afforded their constitutional right to due process.

So essentially we don't want to restrict the 99% because of the 1% bad guys. And yet, when it comes to Syrian refuges, Republicans all of sudden more concerned about the 1%.

"If we allow 9,999 Syrian refugees into the United States, and all of them are good people, but we allow one person in who's an ISIS killer -- we just get one person wrong, we've got a serious problem.” - Marco Rubio

I see the gun control debate as very complex and don't have any easy answers for how to do deal with it. However, I do think restricting anyone who the FBI recognizes as an ISIS sympathizer is a no brainer.
