Why not go for 2 when we scored in the fourth to try to go up 17?

Apologies if this has been discussed as I’ve been off the board most of the day. But I never understand why coaches don’t go for two when when you score a TD to go up 15. The chances of winning up 17 in that situation are much greater than if you’re up 16. And the downside to failing and remaining up 15 is pretty minimal.

Very few coaches will actually go for two to try and win a game if they get the opportunity after being down two scores in the fourth. So there is little difference being up 15 compared to 16 in that spot. Certainly not near as dramatic as it is being up 17 compared to 16.
