I only watch cfb on the tv. I don't watch anything else except movies online and dvd. I can't stand the programming. Will we ever get the ability to subscribe to cfb only online? I see that ESPN is tanking with all the political talk etc.... Could it be sooner rather than later?

Last year my internet fee surpassed my cable tv bill. I imagine that cable tv is about to get inexpensive compared to internet.

The problem with college football is that it's spread out over a billion channels so it can't be replicated online only. The cable model is dying but the alternatives for sports aren't there yet, but everything else is easily substituted for cheaper better online options. You would have to become well versed in pirating.

To drop cable and get all the UT games you would have to do something like playstation vue so you have access to ESPN, LHN (for extra $) and the Fox Sports channels. That would cover you for other major matchups. Probably be 50/ month. The kicker is that when you drop cable your internet is going to go up because they are likely currently bundled with discounts which you lose if you only want internet.

If your cable < your internet bill you either have really good internet or really bad cable.

I pay $77 for cable and internet (Spectrum) with ESPN, FoX Sports, and LHN. Internet goes to $50 if I drop cable. Not that the $27 is a big deal but I don't use it outside cfb. A cfb sub online would likely be more than $27 a month tho.

Well you are on the pretty low end then. A lot of people are easily paying twice that. We are a long ways away from something as simple as a college football subscription though. You really wouldn't save anything if you cut the cord and tried to replace it with streaming services.

Yeah, I am paying $125-150 for DirecTv and internet, if I go internet only I think it goes to about $75, but if I was streaming countless games and movies at some point I would have to upgrade my internet based on usage or face overage costs. By the end of the day, if a new platform for games is rolled out most will probably have to pay more to get similar coverage, unless you are tech savvy enough to steal games using KODI or some other software.

Yeah I was paying 150 when I did it. I don't miss it. I realized that I just had sports on as background noise. I rarely was actually paying attention to a game I was just more or less checking the scoreboard every once in awhile. I still follow everything and will catch games on the broadcast networks or just watch highlights.

No I have to either hit a sports bar or watch at a buddy's house. Longhorn games are about the only game that watch attentively.

In the near future, this may be what I do. I can cut internet down and put that cash in my pocket.

We cut cable about 4yrs ago and upgraded our internet. We have every single channel, movie, sports event, tv series, anything that shows on a tv screen through kodi and an annual $15 vpn subscription just to be safe.
We got tired of watching 6 channels and paying for 300 other worthless ones. As long as my setup works we'll never subscribe again.
