We have zero QB depth that's why. We have 2 scholarship QBs and both are underclassmen. I doubt we get Zaire (he'll likely end up somewhere that he's guaranteed to start) but I don't fault Herman for trying. If you think we are above that at this point I don't know what to tell you. Strong should have been turning over rocks and looking for QBs as well and maybe we wouldn't have zero depth.

Kids transfer (ahem), get homesick, get hurt, get arrested, don't perform.....etc. I'd rather have other positions hurting for depth. You can always move a running back to corner and such.....but QB depth is hard to make up on the fly.

Again man, one QB gets hurt, and our backup is a walk on or a WR with a very small play selection. We have two QBs on scholarship. Two. If those two QBs were Colt McCoy and Vince Young, I'd still like to add some depth.

FB,You could be right and you could be dead wrong,I see a strong intensity and direction from Herman along with the coaching staff,far removed from the CS regime.He has a plan,expected level of play and intends to make it work like at Ohio state and Houston.There was a time DKR had 3 6-4 seasons in a row and some Texas fans wanted to run him out of town.Like Hermans demeanor or not its only fair to give him chance.

Good grief, FB give it a rest with the non-stop bashing of Herman. You don't know how he's going to turn out. I think he'll be a darn good coach at Texas, but time will tell if he will or won't be, but he deserves the chance first. DKR is dead and gone, and he's not coming back. Herman's offense is a beating for QBs and Zaire is a lot like Greg Ward. Might even be able to RS Sam but Herman lost 2 QBs in the 2014 season and won the NC with QB #3

I think the coaching staff will wait until after spring practice making choices on the QB position.If they feel they need more to win then they could offer a grad or juco player that could upgrade the position or a quality backup.I feel this staff is about winning and winning now and do not want to guess at that position.I do not think it will be like the ending years of Mack and Charlie in making judgements on the QB.

From what I gather, Heard has all the athletic tools a guy could ever want but he has a difficult time with the playbook.
If the first option isn't available his tendency is to tuck and run. Works great in HS but not so much in the next level.

My guess is that no one on staff thinks Heard can pass a lick. We know he is an absolute electric runner, so they must be pretty sure he will never make it as a passer in CFB

Because this staff knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that they have to...HAVE TO win and win right now, they wont bypass Heard because they think he would be better in slot...they dont think he can ever be able to be competent in the passing game. They know the dude can run.
