A very dear friend of mine is a former Army veteran and after hearing about the fundraiser that we've put together for LCol. Justin Rokohl and the possibility of sending another vet or two (with your help) to see the Longhorns against Alabama.

My buddy (Eric) is a serious UT memorabilia/football card collector and he's put together a special lot of (mostly rookie) autographed/special edition cards of some of the greatest players in Longhorn history. The lot it self is hard to value, but there are cards in the collection that are worth a nice little chunk of change.

If we net $50, he doesn't care. If we get $5000, he doesn't care. He just wanted to do his part. Therefore, we're going to have open bidding today and tomorrow for this lot of cards.

I'll see if I can get some of them scanned, but this is a pretty pristine collection. There aren't bent corners or anything like that and a number of the cards are graded.

We'll open the bidding after I list what's available:

Autographed rookie cards

Cedric Benson - 2005 Upper Deck Special Collection (numbered 63 of 99)
Quan Cosby - 2009 Donruss Elite (numbered 643 of 999)

Yes, bidding will continue until 7PM tomorrow night. If the winner is in Austin, perhaps we can get the cards to him/her in time for Santa.

Ketch, Jason, and Josh White all have control on the funds.

They should have an update late this afternoon or evening.

Wow, I don't have the money, but what a cool donation and something I'd totally buy if I could. The signatures put it over the top.

Originally, I was going to designate which cards featured players in their UT uniforms. Roy is wearing his UT gear in the card.

How much does the young man need to raise to make the game?

We are working on sending not only him, but possibly another soldier or two now that the amount is growing.
