Do we recruit globally in hoops?

We need to have a contingent of global recruiters. There are so many young ballers, both men and women, in Africa and Latin America. Mexico has a 6'8" kid who is a Junior in high school dominating hoops down there. He would be the type of kid that would be a stud at UT. Nigeria has talent galore. We need to get Royal Ivey on our staff. He's connected.

What bothers you the most ?

On average , about your political opponents ?

# 1 The unwillingness/inability to defend their statements or opinions when questioned

it is a pandemic of consistency. Everyone has opinions , not all opinions are fact
and nobody is right all the time ( except me)

But if you post something, please just be able to support it . Otherwise this site just becomes an amorphic , internet tough guy contest

A letter to Democracy from the Democratic National Committee.

Dear Democracy:

You know how we value you. We spout about it all the time to any audience we can find. You know how strongly we defend you, and now we need a favor.

We need you to look the other way for a few days while we select a more viable candidate for the Presidential election. I know that is asking a lot, but it is really important. You know what a threat to you Donald J. Trump represents and we MUST find a way to not let him near you again. Joe and Kamala are simply not going to work. We need to find someone else. Sometimes we have to ignore you in order to save you. We promise when this is over and Republican threats to you are defeated we will return you to your rightful place in our rhetoric.

Thank you so much for this consideration. You have helped us out like this before and we know you will join us in thwarting this most recent threat to you.

You know we love you and would never do you any lasting harm.

Respectfully,

The Democratic National Committee

Big Noon Conversation: Joel Klatt interviews Sark (video)

Good watch.

I love it when YouTube videos list the highlighted segments to alert you what is in a certain area of the video. Best part of the interview was Klatt asking Sark which were his worst and best play calls of his career..36 minute mark.

--Worst: Wanna guess? 4th and 2 USC/Tx Rose Bowl.
--Best: Big12 championship game vs. Oklahoma State. Sark tells how he called that play the night before the game speaking with coach Milwee, QB coach..he says the first time they get 3rd and 2, no matter if on their own 10 or at opponent's 10 he's calling a double pass to JT, anticipating man coverage. Sure enough, man coverage and JT open for the TD. 😁

So uh Klatt, how about your worst play? Not discussed in the video but I'll bet the worst call he's been part of was dropping back near the end zone in Big12 championship game vs. Texas while already down big time, gets concussed. 😳

Objective POV of Gomer Schedule and Potential Record

I don’t post a lot, but not a Gomer so if that’s your schtick don’t waste your time…

Elko is seriously likely the best coach they’ve hired in a LONG while. Stable guy. Serious. Understands the weirdness of CS and doesn’t seam to cringe at it. Knows their talent. Seams to be doing well with recruiting.

Their conference schedule other than LSU and maybe Mizzou is a joke until they get to us. They dodged Dirt Burglar, Bama, UGA, and Tenn…. *Seems like a SEC gift of a schedule.

Returning good talent especially on defense and receiving core and have a couple of better than average QBs.

Our game with them is going to be HOSTILE in their favor.

Even if they loose to us, they should only have 3 losses max. …. WHY are they not expected to be better than middle of the pack?

Hope Sark and the team take EVERY game seriously and hope our fan base shows up EVERYWHERE including and maybe ESPECIALLY at CS.

Anyway. Hook’em!

OT: Some historical assassination attempts on U.S. presidents

Obviously the assassinations of U.S. Pres. Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, and Kennedy are well known. The following are some little known, but historically interesting assassination attempts on presidents, from Wikipedia:
  • Theodore Roosevelt (1912) - Three-and-a-half years after he left office, Theodore Roosevelt ran in the 1912 presidential election as a member of the Progressive Party. While campaigning in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 14, 1912, John Schrank, a saloon-keeper from New York who had been stalking him for weeks, shot Roosevelt once in the chest with a .38-caliber Colt Police Positive Special. The 50-page text of his campaign speech titled "Progressive Cause Greater Than Any Individual", folded over twice in Roosevelt's breast pocket, and a metal glasses case slowed the bullet, saving his life. Schrank was immediately disarmed, captured, and might have been lynched had Roosevelt not shouted for Schrank to remain unharmed. Roosevelt assured the crowd he was all right, then ordered police to take charge of Schrank and to make sure no violence was done to him. Roosevelt, as an experienced hunter and anatomist, correctly concluded that since he was not coughing blood, the bullet had not reached his lung, and he declined suggestions to go to the hospital immediately. Instead, he delivered his scheduled speech with blood seeping into his shirt. He spoke for 84 minutes before completing his speech and accepting medical attention. His opening comments to the gathered crowd were, "Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot, but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.” Afterwards, probes and an x-ray showed that the bullet had lodged in Roosevelt's chest muscle, but did not penetrate the pulmonary pleurae. Doctors concluded that it would be less dangerous to leave it in place than to attempt to remove it, and the bullet remained in Roosevelt's body for the remainder of his life. . . . At Schrank's trial, the would-be assassin claimed that William McKinley had visited him in a dream and told him to avenge his assassination by killing Roosevelt. He was found legally insane and was institutionalized until his death in 1943.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933) - Seventeen days before Roosevelt's first presidential inauguration, Giuseppe Zangara fired five shots at Roosevelt in Miami, Florida. Zangara's shots missed the president-elect, but Zangara did mortally wound Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak and injured four other people. Zangara pleaded guilty to the murder of Cermak and was executed in the electric chair on March 20, 1933 [just 33 days after the crime]. It has never been conclusively determined who was Zangara's target, but most assumed at first that he had been shooting at the president-elect. Another theory is that the attempt may have been ordered by the imprisoned Al Capone, and that Cermak, who had led a crackdown on the Chicago Outfit and Chicago organized crime more generally, was the true target.
  • Harry S. Truman (1950) - Two Puerto Rican pro-independence activists, Oscar Collazo and Griselio Torresola, attempted to kill President Truman at the Blair House, where Truman was living while the White House was undergoing major renovations. In the attack, Torresola injured White House policeman Joseph Downs and mortally wounded White House policeman Leslie Coffelt. Coffelt returned fire, killing Torresola with a shot to the head. Collazo wounded an officer before being shot in the stomach. Collazo survived with serious injuries; Coffelt died of his wounds 4 hours later in a hospital. Truman was not harmed, but he was placed at a huge risk. Collazo was convicted in a federal trial and received the death sentence. Truman commuted Collazo's death sentence to life in prison. In 1979, President Jimmy Carter further commuted Collazo's sentence to time served.
