2020 recruiting

BWilk,

Who is left? Who are we targeting? Who can we honestly sign?
Herman himself stated they would look at 4-5 more players in the class.

He mentioned 2 D-Linemen they covet (Princely and Alfred Collins)

Probably look to add a WR (have no idea who at this point)

Could look to add a second RB to replace Jordan.

Already added the LB noted above.

Maybe look for 1 more DB.

Princely
Collins
Ringo
Ford

That would be a very nice haul for the D.

I don't see any offers to RB/WR that we have a legitimate shot at. Maybe transfers/JUCOs?

Here’s some ratings as of today:

.........................Texas.......OU
Rivals..................21...........12
ESPN..................10............11
24/7.....................11.......,,,,..9

OU signed 22, Texas signed 16.

I only used those three. Feel free to add any other recruiting service you feel is better.

I also added OU, since that’s your biggest competition/rival in the Big 12 (and I’m a fan).

Does your national ranking change your opinion of your class, has no bearing on your thoughts, or strengthens your argument?

Just curious, since this thread has multiple opinions.
For me, no I am not concerned.

For starters, adding the 3 star LB today bumped us ahead of both ND and OU (24/7 composite) and we still have Kelvontay Dixon in the chamber. His Carthage team is still in the playoffs so their players did not sign yet to avoid distraction. Adding him puts us 1 point behind Florida. With a good close (add guys like Umanmielen and Collins) we can pass Auburn as well.

And we have such a high quality of recruit coming in. Currently 6th in average ranking. That means a smaller class but a high percentage of guys with a chance to pan out.

It's a good class, that could get better. Losing guys last minute is never good though.

Well glad we flipped a recruit cause we have another player that probably won't ever see the field Peter Mpagi defensive linemen from our 2019 class has undisclosed heart issues and just got released from the hospital a second time.

truly a bummer for the young man I hope he can remain healthy outside of football.

According to 4MNC The coaches should have been able to diagnose his heart condition in high school and pulled his scholarship offer so he wouldn’t have signed with Texas.

That wasn't his point and you know that. But you're a sunshine pumping feller, so carry on with your hyperbole!

Not at all what I was trying to convey. I was simply saying maybe we should not offer so many players with pre existing high school injuries. It’s perfectly ok to take a chance on an elite few. However, once they verbally commit, they are yours.

There's some sort of conspiracy on the recruiting boards to rank the Aggies higher than the Longhorns, so that their class is safely ahead of ours.

Said no Longhorn ever.

I didn't really think we had a shot anyway.

Word around the internet is that Ringo has already signed and it's not Texas. Probably Georgia.

Or Oregon. Georgia was looking to close up to 3 5 stars on signing day. It is yet to be seen but they may have ended up with just 1/3 with Ringo signing with Oregon, Darnell Washington with Ariz St. and Georgia landing Zack Evans.

There’s a picture floating around (I can’t post for some reason) from the All American game of the UT signees. Ringo is in it and gave the Hook Em sign.
Something up or major trolling job.

Wherever he signs he has trolled multiple fan bases based on clothes he has worn, things he has said. Nothing malicious, I think he is just having fun.

So did we get any kids to committ?
Our biggest remaining target there was Alfred Collins. He didn't commit today but lots of progress with him over the week. He spent a lot of time with UT commits and watched us beat Utah with them. His family was so excited by it they bought Alamo bowl Champion t-shirts.

I was worried we had lost him to either Baylor or OU but I think we recovered and he is ours.

And I believe he jumped into a picture of UT commits taken with a former player.

Another thing. There was that one year when Texas jumped the Aggies at the end of the recruiting season. The Aggies were saying that Longhorns always get (unfairly) re-evaluated and get additional stars or just higher numbers.

This recruiting season is a counterexample. If I recall correctly, the Longhorn class was averaging in the 93's on 247, during the first half of the football season. Maybe high 92's? On early signing day: 91.85.

Confirmation bias is when you expect something to occur, and only notice or remember information that supports your foregone conclusion. People do it when they're rooting for a certain side, such as in religion, politics or sports.

I think it is because the 3 kids who committed/signed on ESD were all rated 86 or below. Pulled down the average a bit. They'll reevaluate guys again before final signing day. Will be interesting which guys go up or down. I would assume most of the movement will be on guys who played in one of the 2 big AA games.

With Matt Rhule leaving are there any kids from Baylor we would try to flip? Duvernay turned out pretty sweet!

Should we be worried there isn't more chatter here since we are getting toward the end of January????

I dont think so. The majority of our class already signed. And this was always going to be a small-ish class because of numbers, think quality and not quantity. We'll likely add another 2 DL and 1 DB between now and signing day. I bet save some spots for a grad transfer WR and another position.

Ok, knew this was going to be small. Just would love to see some stud DL come aboard because we sure need it. We good at LB?
