We’ll use this thread as a landing spot of sorts on all things related to tonight’s Stars at Night Showcase.
FYI, the camp doesn’t start until about 7 p.m. and is closed to the media and public. It should wrap around 10 p.m., and at that time we’ll have a chance to grab some guys for interviews.
A couple notes …
TE Mustapha Muhammad is in. He had been a maybe all week but he’ll be in attendance tonight. Keondre Coburn is out, from what I was just told. I believe he’s visiting Alabama.
Speaking of Alabama, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is visiting there today and I believe (based on twitter) that 2020 RB Zachary Evans is as well. Evans holds a UT offer and was on the list of guys that was a maybe for UT’s camp this weekend. Too early to start sweating that one though.
Also, 2019 LB Marcel Brooks is out. He’s at Kansas today. Interestingly, Brooks told OB on Saturday that he’d be camping at Texas, but he also told a TCU reporter a few minutes later he’d be camping at TCU. Dude’s kind of all over the place. Regardless, doesn’t look like he’ll be at the camp tonight.
There’s rumors out there that Anthony Cook could show up, but I haven’t confirmed that. I did ask one person earlier today (who I thought would know) if Cook was coming and he told me he wasn't sure what Cook's plans are. Could have been sandbagging me, but I haven't heard any concrete answers yet.
The camp will be the highlight but the other big news of the day is the unveiling of UT’s new locker room upgrades. That’s a big part of the draw for tonight’s camp and from people I’ve communicated with today, the reviews are incredible (“Impressive?,” I asked one person … “Very much so” was the response. I’ve seen a few pictures (can’t publish … sorry … looks like even the pics that popped up on social media have been taken down), and everything I’ve seen looks pretty freaking incredible.
