aTm ruined the Big 12...per San Antonio columnist...

There can be only one.

It's funny seeing people's reactions to this. Seems like people have been hiding under a rock. We have told many on this board about us being the Joneses and nobody listens or don't want to listen.

As others have stated--the slip started when Nebraska and Arkansas left. aTm were mid level contenders in the Big 12.
I'll never forget where I was when I heard Arkansas left the BIG12, as others stated. Were they in the BIG12 North or South (or maybe southwest then southeast)? Can't remember.

Arkansas was definitely the biggest lose for the BIG12, no doubt. If that hadn't happened, we would have been a top 4 conference.

you might not forget where you were when you heard something....but it wasnt when Arkansas left the Big 12.....they never were in the Big 12.....they went from the SWC to the SEC...1992.

I was joking about the statement that the biggest loses for the BIG12 included Arkansas. I tried to be over the top stupid, but will try harder next time.

Fair enough mm.... I had not been following this thread too closely and completely missed others reference to that. my bad.

Ahh yes....when all else fails let's pull out the overall record.

I bet Princeton fans like to run National Championship smack too.

I can pull out the last time we played for a natty vs the last time you did.
Or I can pull out the last time we won a natty vs the last time you did.
I can also pull out the last time we beat Germany in a world War vs the last time you were relevant. Or the last time we were bombed by japan......

Or we can go a step further and look at the most successful stretch in aggy history (83-94) and then point out all the NCAA sanctions placed on your program in that stretch-- for everything from recruiting violations to paying players HUD money for doing construction projects at section 8 housing in Dallas while simultaneously being enrolled at summer school in college station. Or the fact that the NCAA reduced your scholarships and banned you from television and bowls games.

Where would you like to begin?

And on a quick side note-- I wouldn't be poking fun at a school that has more titles and been more relevant overall than you'll ever be (Princeton).

One of them is a lot closer to the assassination of Lincoln.

A&M has been better the last 5 or 6 years, but Texas has been better the last century. It has been fairly close the last 35 years or so, but Texas has had higher highs. We can argue what the future holds, but the past is not debatable. I have a hard time seeing A&M winning more games than Texas going forward if the current conference affiliations stand pat. Hope I live long enough to see how the next 35 or 40 years go.

In my lifetime (45 years) the record is 22-19 in favor of the horns. I feel that's pretty representative of how the "recent" series has been. Not as lopsided as many of you bluebloods would like to think it is.

35 years is an interesting number to go with.

Big 12 play 11-5 Texas
Last 50 years they played 30-20 Texas

The Ags had a fantastic 80's at 7-3 and we all know what happened in the late 80's

That run continued into the 90's at 6-4 and then everything went back to the norm.

While the Ags have done well in the SEC over the last five years, it would be asinine to assume they would have won the last five meetings! They should have won the last and that didn't happen on their own turf.

Hell, Texas is 24-22-2 at Kyle field

king of funny how the ags want to only use recent history to compare the programs, but not the real recent history ....say anything from this century....we have a natty....played in another...several Rose Bowls etc....so what have yall got?

I'm the same age and that's kind of how I feel although the Mack Brown years really were nice for UT in general and especially this rivalry.

I used 35 years because I was conceding all time. All time isn't debatable. You guys were better. Just saying it has been debatable the last 35 years or so. You guys were much better in the distant past, it has been close the last 35 years, and we have been better recently. Those seem like facts in my book. Not sure how anyone can have a big issue with this.

Sad conversation why would you want to be the team that killed a conference. The Big XII had so much freaking potential. Just poor decisions and direction from day one. Hope BYU helps.

I will concede the last 35 years have been more closely competitive if you'll concede that in one third of those years aggy was caught and ultimately punished for cheating under Jackie and RC.

Sounds reasonable, yes?

Not sure about the number of years we were caught paying to play, but we were caught for some years without question.
I'd guess we cheated most other years as well without being caught. I'd also guess we weren't alone. But it only counts if you get caught. The SWC was a whorehouse for decades, with snitches all around.

Maybe, you still are a bitch in your conference just like you were in the Big 12. You left the Big 12 because you knew you would never win jack there and would always be in Daddy's shadow.

In my lifetime Texas has won 3 National titles and played for 3 more. aggsy 0 and 0.

Pretty much all the Jackie Sherrill years. Now I do think RC ran a pretty clean program but he also was passed by Mack Brown and Bob Stoops so I guess he had to go.

Maybe, you still are a bitch in your conference just like you were in the Big 12.
You beat Iowa State and start calling others a Bitch? Must have been a bigger win than I thought. I shouldn't have wasted my time watching OSU and Wisconsin when I could have watched something so special.

I love it when aggsy remind me of how much UT in in their head. You are a little bitch in the SEC because you constantly finish middle of the pack or lower in your own division, just like you did in the Big 12.

But that doesn't matter, you see, you have done better than Texas and that is all that really matters. It doesn't matter that since playing the the MNC in 2009 Texas has been on the worst 7 year stretch since 1986. What matters is aggsy are better than Texas. You see, when Texas was great, you couldn't bring yourself up to our level, you would rather stay shitty and see Texas below you.

The difference between Texas and aggsy is plain and simple. When Texas is great, we don't care who else is great, to us they are just another hurdle to being great. On the other hand aggsy have never been great, but if they are better than Texas then they are good. Well congrats, you are better than Texas over the last few years, but you are still someone's bitch, and those someone's are LSU, Bama, and Ole Miss.

I didn't call anyone a bitch. Just wondered why you were so excited. Why not wait until Saturday night to call us out, when we will likely have just taken a beating.

I have often wondered why aggsy beat their chest in August in Sept only to have the wheels fall off in Oct and Nov. I remember when you signed that 5'star midget QB Murray, and aggsy were openly wondering how many Heisman trophies he would win and how many National championships they would get in this three years there.

The difference between me and aggsy is that I have both History and trends on my side.

I'll give you history, but I want to hear more about the trend being on your side.

By the way, we have as many moron fans as anyone, so I'm not defending them. All fan bases have them, we may have more than our share. Just trying to determine which basket of fans you fall in for Texas.

Let's not pretend that virtually every university in the country would have taken Murray if he didn't sign with A&M. He was on UT's campus and the collective fan base had a massive wet dream when he posted the picture in a UT jersey.

I wanted him in baseball.

Wasatch. Waiting on some trend analysis. Hoping to be impressed.

Or not. Just having some fun with you. You guys just need the right man running things, and that trend line will head in your direction. Sadly, I can not argue that things will change for the better for you guys as soon as you get your act together.

This is the golden age of aTm football as we speak. Barring a total collapse, it will be 5 years of 8+ wins under Sumlin. Only happened once before 1974-78 without sanctions. No national, conference, or division titles in this 5 year span, but by 2 or 3 degrees of separation, a Heisman, Super Bowl MVP, and a Super Bowl winning coach, this is best 5 years aTm has had without cheating.

Doesn't compare to at least a dozen or so 5 year spans at UT, but great for aTm.
