Because they still can't QB the defense. That is what is keeping Elliott from starting over DH. Being more athletic at a position doesn't cancel out not being in position nor not having the other guys in the correct position. I have no idea why you'd want to move Boyd who can step in at either corner, with little to no drop off, to safety when both Elliott and B. Jones are experienced at the position.
You're also gonna be upset with Strong playing vets in the beginning. Word going around is that Strong learned from his previous, 'all things equal the young guy starts' stance tore the locker room apart over older vs younger lines. Allegedly, the staff is going to reward the older guys for sticking with the program, working hard, and providing leadership but yet allow the younger guys to naturally takeover those positions during this season.
