Big 12 Fall Camp Thread

Did anyone notice that New Braunfels beat top ranked Denton Ryan last night? Yes, that Denton Ryan team loaded with a bunch of 4 and 5 star players led by Anthony Hill, who is supposed to be the number one LB prospect for the 2023 class.

NB wasn't even picked to win their district.
Denton Ryan was winning the whole game after 3 quarters the score was 33-21 what happen in the 4th! Need highlights of that 4th quarter! They didn't even update their Twitter in the 4th hahaha

NB scored two late TD’s in the 4th while shutting out Ryan in the 4th. Ryan was driving downfield on the final series but was thwarted by an interception to seal the deal for NB.

Did you ever watch Art Briles' Baylor teams woody?

In your case doubtful.
Heh heh, yes. I'll state that Art was brilliant at UH and Baylor. His path to a big time program seemed similar to that of Urban Meyer and even Nick Saban until he got the shaft from Baylor. You'd have to be a clown to believe he wasn't an outstanding coach. Good luck with yer angle brother. 👍

I watched. He kicked a lot of a**. Starting from zero talent. Briles was brilliant The penalties were an issue, but also a sign of aggression. You are the only one I've ever seen allege "going for the knees".

Who knows about Lebby. My concern would be that the rest of CFB has caught up with the scheme since a decade ago.

Cali's discombobulated most of the time. His MO. 😉

@diadevic The players I'm referring to are Ahmad Dixon, KJ Morton, and Shawn Oakman.

Looking back the biggest contribution that Briles made that will last a long time is that Baylor has finally built the facilities.

All that winning and Drayton and his friends opened up their wallets and now they're as nice as anyone else's.

And Mack Rhoades has taken Baylor athletics to a higher level.

But imo the big difference between Briles and Arranda is that Baylor is playing fb the right away.

Their defense was their strength all year. And @diadevic Baylor looks like they will bring in a top 20 recruiting class for the first time. So he's also a better recruiter than Briles.

In fact their fans are woofin that Austin Novosad is better than Arch Manning we'll see about that.

I'm sorry that Baylor/BYU has a bad time slot. This should be one of the best non con games this year.

In fact I think Baylor has a chance to make the playoffs.

Nothing but props to Baylor fb @diadevic

@weevilcatch @Oldmanastro

I've got no idea. So here's my story:

When I first joined this board back in the Jurassic Era, I would have rather watched yachting than soccer. However, upon my return to the Lone Star State 4 years ago, it slowly dawned on me that soccer had gained considerable traction among sports enthusiasts here. Still I tried to hold out. I was amused by the exchanges on this board between the believers such as yourself, and the non-believer heathen like our humble board admin.

Anyways, this deficiency on my part was easy to cover at first. I could talk football with my students, both male and female and we all spoke a common language. Over time though, as I attended school games, it was becoming more and more difficult to excuse my absence from soccer games. In many classes I noted students excitedly discussing Premier League or Bundesliga games and I had no frame of reference. Most of my students I noted, were fans of Man U.

So anyways, I decided to lend my support and attend a soccer game, which led to students begging me to attend more. I did, then they started asking me about what teams I liked and besides Chiva, which my mother had rooted for when I was younger, I had no frame of reference. Knowing that my students were Man U fans, I decided on an oppositional approach, did some checking and saw that Chelsea was a rival, so overnight I became a Chelsea fan. It was January-February, a time of desolation in sports viewing. I found myself watching soccer and cricket on TV.....and enjoying Premier League matches. This was short-lived. Russia invaded Ukraine and Chelsea was owned by a Russki. I had to dump them sooooo....

Then I decided to really research Premier League teams. I needed a new squad to root for and there they were. Intimidating name, proud history but not so much that they were a pop-culture phenom. Classic imperial colors and a logo with a freaking cannon. What was not to like? Especially for an unrepentant imperialist and certified Anglophile such as myself? I adopted Arsenal and have been watching them ever since last March and yes, I agonized over their late season collapse. Been driving my Man-U students crazy this year by displaying standings and opppsss....playing highlights on YouTube.

To answer your question though, I have no idea if this is the real deal. I know even less about soccer than I do about football. So far, it looks like Arteta is making all the right moves and the team chemistry is working. Let's see what happens when they hit a rough patch......

What a story! I guess I'll have to give you less grief being a Gunner, lol.

Glad you're on board with this beautiful game my man!!

Y'all finally got a proven winner. One who your fan base most certainly didn't run out of town once upon a time...

Should be a terrific next 18 years for you guys.
Venables has already completely turned the program around, no longer heading in the wrong direction. His last year‘s recruiting class would’ve been Riley‘s second best ever. This year’s recruiting class will be better than anything Riley put together. Riley was soft and had to go. Any team that punched his in the mouth had a very good chance of winning. OU will still have great talent but now toughness is back. This year is supposed to be a rebuilding year but it will be a good year. The next several years will be great years. Grab yourself a front row seat.😬

Go Arsenal...!! How about that comeback today? I'm starting to drink the imperial blue and red Kool-Aid. Championship teams in any sport have gut-checks like today that they have to pass. The Gunners did so....the more wins, the more confident they are going to become.....

He coached OK top 6 straight Big XII championships. And he's one play away against OSU from going to another to another Big XII title game.

He went 5/1 against us and except for that 1 loss he clearly out coached Tom Herman every time.

And now he's a bad coach?

Bob's wave rode out. The move to the sec scared him off west. Plain and simple.

You guys are fing ridiculous and I think BV is a really good football coach.

However, can we wait until the paint in his office dries before you guys break ground on the fieldhouse expansion to hold all the crystal footballs he is going to win?

How about 1 game? Can we wait until he finishes 1 game as the head coach before we print all the Big 12 championship tshirts?

You obviously haven't a clue about Brent.

I know! That's what I'm saying. He's already proven his worth. Games are just formalities now. Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and Ohio State are just playing for 2nd.

Well.........my Everton figured out how to botch another one. Gonna be another battle to the end for us and relegation.

So Lebby and Ole Miss offense top 10 last two years because? Whatever nonsense was going on at Baylor, and it may have been serious, has little to do with the assistants who learned how to coach. Like Lebby.

All of the assistants, including Lebby, signed a letter in support of Briles. So either they were part of it or condoned it. Whatever "it" is.
