Big Monday: #24 Texas @ #3 Oklahoma

Man, I didn't expect to win this one, but it's sure disappointing to lose in the end after being in control of most of the game. Good hard fought game on the road, though.

Big shot by Hield. He was clutch down the stretch. I was impressed that we stayed in it and held the lead for most of the game. I thought that they'd falter a little walking in to that game. Shaka has the team playing very well against some tough competition.

Crazy that you don't hear fans here blaming Rick Barnes, guess that's only football. Glad Taylor stayed, I know a lot thought we'd be better off without him. That clearly wasn't the case.

Lol. Maybe it is nostalgia. All I know is I had a lot of great memories there of a lot of great games. Always had fun there, even when the place wasn't packed. It was always one of my favorite places to go in Austin. I used to even go out of my way just to drive by it. Lol.

I definitely have good memories of games there too, but so many of them were the highly ranked vs highly ranked game where the Erwin Center was packed. If it's full, and the game is close, you can get the place rocking (though even that would be easier with more students nearer to the court). It's just it HAS to be a fast paced, intense game, that drew a full house. If it's not? I've come out of there hoarse and exhausted after feeling like I couldn't even tell if I was being loud because it just goes up into the big empty space...

Mister, I went to almost every game in the BMW days, and I absolutely love the Erwin Center. I don't get why people don't think it's a good arena.

I do agree about the old guys. I'm in my 40s and don't feel like jumping and yelling anymore, so I don't go to games anymore. The younger crowd needs to take over. It's their turn. If you're older and still feel like you must be at the games, you better get the lead outta your ass.

Don't you realize that you're still one of the young guys?

Lol. Yeah, but when I was going to games all the time, I acted a fool. I mean I yelled and jumped around like crazy. Came home with no voice plenty of times. I'm not saying I feel old, but I don't feel like going bonkers like I used to. I'd feel like an asshat going to a game now and not putting in the 110% I used to.

Taylor really impressive.
I agree. I am not complaining because I loved the effort and they left everything on the court. But, Taylor is attempting more 3s and it just isn't there yet for him. He probably shouldn't have in a game like this, but, what the heck, this loss doesn't affect our tournament appearance. I can't believe that March Madness is only about 3 weeks away.

That was a good game. I watched most of it starting midway through the first half. I don't think the call at the end was a bad call. It was a flop yes, but the arm was out for sure pushing off. Plus Texas got a little lucky as well when a few minutes ealier the ball clearly went off a Texas finger out of bounds and then Texas ended up getting a 3 point play right after they got the ball back. It always goes both ways, but I get it as an Aggie fan I blame the refs too at times. Texas is starting to play really well though. They are going to be a tough out in the tourney.

It was a terrible call in crunch time. The announcers admitted as much. And Buddy Hield had more FTs than the entire UT team (11 vs 10). Home cooking at its finest.

You are right, Ags do KNOW excuses and how to rationalize losses and blame others.

As for my take. OU simply executed better down the stretch than we did.

No, just very simply every team thinks the refs blow the game because you are a fan of a certain team. 1 call can be hard to swallow. OU didn't really execute. Buddy was just hot as always. He is a tough kid to guard.

Probably should have been a no call. Taylor did extend his hand and touch the OU player, obvious flop. Taylor did miss the shot on the play and OU appeared to be in good position for the rebound so its questionable if it had an impact on the result.

Evident that a big time shooter is all this team is missing right now

For me, it wasn't whether there was a bad call or not in this game. It was that it was a close enough game that, yeah, it could come down to something as small as a ref call to determine the game, good or bad. Usually, in cases like that, I'm thinking "the best way to avoid that is to not let it come down to that call" but OU is a great team with great players (and one in particular who is just lights out). We were on their home court. And the game was close enough that any single ref call could have swapped who won the game. That's how tight the game was.

We're playing better in year 1 than anyone would have thought. We're almost certainly in the tournament already and a loss to #3 isn't going to diminish that. We're going to get a chance to get revenge on the Sooners in 2.5 weeks here in Austin. It was a great effort by our Horns and nothing to hang our heads about. No time for that anyway. @ Iowa State on Saturday, just another really big game in the Big 12 (just as almost every one of our remaining games will be). Week in and out, Texas is showing they can play with anyone, and I'm loving watching it.

UT Fans complaining about the refs.....Shocking! I thought only OU fans did that..........
You do. Every time you lose a game in anything. Difference is, your crooked ref actually cost us the game this time. BS home cooking call and you know it. So were the 11 FTs Hield had vs UT's combined 10.

Yeah when one player has more FT attempts than the entire opposing team, something is wrong.

It was a bad call. That wasn't a foul for the first 39 minutes, so it shouldn't have been a foul in the last minute either.

Texas controlled the entire game, no doubt who the better team was the other night, Sooners needed a bail out at home, will lose in Austin

This is probably more accurate. OU was getting the rebound anyway, so it didn't have an impact on the game. So, OU didn't get bailed out. Yes, it was a charge...should it have been called at that stage of the game? Probably not. Was it a flop? Yes.
