I’ve been burned by Shaka so many times in the past. I was one of the last to lose hope with him as our coach and tried to stay positive as long as possible until he gave me no choice but to face the music and admit it just wasn’t gonna happen with him coaching our team. I had resigned to the belief that we needed to move on, we just weren’t going to win anything of substance with him leading the way.

Having said all that..... I’m back baby! This is a top 15 team and this is the year that we make a run in the tourney! I predict an Elite 8 run at minimum and I also predict we’re playing Baylor in the conference championship game when the time comes. This team has too much talent, depth, and experience to not put it together this year. This is the year we finally see real progress and have hope with Shaka leading the way. Let’s go!!!! Hook ‘em f*ckin horns🤘😤

Big questions:

1. Playmaking by Coleman. No more wild shots and drives to the hoop especially at the end of a close game. Stress move with without the ball, set up plays based on different zone looks.

2. Very strong defense and rebounding.

3. FTs, FTs, FTs.

4. Inside out game with quality passing. No more iso ball. No more sitting way outside the three and waiting to 7 secs are left on the shot clock.

5. Sims and Brown develop a reliable 5-7 footer.

6. Shoot 35 plus from three.

I am happy for Shaka and the team.. They destroyed Kansas but truth be told their performance was less than stellar against WV and had West Virginia been able to shoot free throws half as well as Stevie Wonder they win by 6-8 points.

Having said that at the end Texas had a chance and they executed.. Not a breakthrough win but an important one that strengthens their belief in their ability to win when everything is not perfect.. That's really one critical dynamic that separates teams..

The really good ones can find ways to win with their B, C and at times D games and getting that win was something they needed. I am looking forward to seeing how the team does in league play and am hoping they keep it going and have a great tournament too...
