Calling my shot re: our basketball team

I’ve been burned by Shaka so many times in the past. I was one of the last to lose hope with him as our coach and tried to stay positive as long as possible until he gave me no choice but to face the music and admit it just wasn’t gonna happen with him coaching our team. I had resigned to the belief that we needed to move on, we just weren’t going to win anything of substance with him leading the way.

Having said all that..... I’m back baby! This is a top 15 team and this is the year that we make a run in the tourney! I predict an Elite 8 run at minimum and I also predict we’re playing Baylor in the conference championship game when the time comes. This team has too much talent, depth, and experience to not put it together this year. This is the year we finally see real progress and have hope with Shaka leading the way. Let’s go!!!! Hook ‘em f*ckin horns🤘😤

I reserve the right to take back everything I just said in the event that the Horns lose tonight. Thank you for your time.

Here's my shot. Regardless of what happens with this once in a lifetime team composition, Shaka will go 19-15 next year barely missing winning the conference by coming in 6th or worse in the big12. He will also revert to form by getting a 12th seed mercy tourney pick (based on this years results) and get smoked in the first game.

Shaka is who shaka is. This years once in a lifetime, lightning in a bottle team notwithstanding.

You’ll be wrong but enjoy hating on a team and coach who are playing great basketball and on pace to be a top 3 seed come tournament time THIS YEAR in the meantime. Doubt they want you as a fan anyways.

Your prediction is looking really solid so far. This team is really fun to watch and is even finding ways to win on days when things aren't going well. Can't remember saying that in a long time. Enjoy the ride... it could be special!

also sight unseen prediction:

end of game possessions with a chance to tie or win are still abysmal

Not sure if this a crow thread bump or not. Still think it's very soon. Not even in Feb yet.

OSU is 2-3

ISU is O for in conference and got drummed by TT.

WVU is 2-3

Great win against KU, however. The Horns were on fire from the perimeter and otherwise.

long haul in Big 12. Along with the good stuff, they still make a lot of mistakes.

There has definitely been progress though.

Where on earth do you get that I am hating on the team? Or more specifically this years team?

I firmly believe that any UT coach that comes in last place in the big12 isn’t the right coach for Texas.

I don’t think that is a super high bar either, nor is it unreasonable to think that not being last shouldn’t be unachievable.

As to Shaka “building“ this team, yes, technically he recruited and signed the players. If you think he can repeat this, I have ocean front land for you in Az that you really need to look at. And YES, he lucked into this team to a large degree. Considering the way this team came about has never been seen before by the computers, all players/minutes returning:

“He finally has a group of veteran players that have peaked experience-wise.”

KenPom has Texas as a preseason Top 10 team and Bart Torvik projects the nation’s most experienced roster as the No. 1 team in his preseason metrics.”

Texas as a program is going to be screwed if its coach requires this to succeed:

“Coleman is in his fourth year as the starting point guard for the Longhorns. He has played and started in 109 of a possible 110 games in his career.”

That doesn’t grow on trees, nor is it repeatable. Hence my position for next year and his eventual dismissal.

You’re coming up with every excuse as to why Shaka has nothing to do with this. It’s pathetic. Enjoy this year or don’t. You look silly talking about how shitty Shaka is or how bad this team is essentially guaranteed to be in your eyes next year. You haven’t said a single positive thing about this team outside of the fact that luck has miraculously created this roster. You are absolutely a hater. Haters rarely recognize the fact that they’re haters so it doesn’t come as a surprise that you would say otherwise. Go watch another team. Your insight isn’t needed for this one.

Sight unseen predictions;
  1. Team doesn’t finish in top 3 of Big12
  2. Team doesn’t make Big12 CG
  3. Greg Brown underperforms, but still comes out
  4. First round loss in Tourney
Your first 2 points are atrocious looking back. Your 4th point will be equally atrocious. Your 3rd point is valid...

Honestly, I was spot Damn on until about 3 days ago. Border line brilliant. In 3 days, with the help of a forfeit and a BU choke, hell froze over.

I’m not sure you know what move the goal posts means.
“unfairly alter the conditions or rules of a procedure during its course”

Aka “I was right if Baylor didn’t lose and Kansas didn’t get Covid”

It’s fine bro I’m just enjoying this victory😁 I’ll enjoy our Elite 8 run after this as well

That’s not moving the goal posts. Now you just look dumb.

You do realize isht happens in sports all the time. Normally we're on the short end of the stick. Nice to see fortune take our side for a change. Alabama's not lamenting its 2009 national championship because of our bad break with Colt.

Cheeto-props on your early season prediction. js can wallow in pessimism tonight while the rest of us f ing celebrate and enjoy this championship. Hook Em!

Happy as a clam. Not sure your point.

Your post looks like an attempt to piss on what is truly a great accomplishment by the basketball team. Unless you are nothing more than a unabashed cynic, there was really no need to go there.
I can’t even comprehend the somersaults you did to come to that conclusion. The OP replied to my post from November. I was simply talking about that. This place never surprises with dumb.
