Change to OT rule in 2019

Easier solution is to move the starting point back to the 35 or 40 yard line, instead of starting in nearly automatic FG range(at the present 25) and giving the D short fields to defend, Then require going for 2 after every OT TD starting in the second OT.

Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis.

I suggest making the second team to score an overtime TD go for two point conversion. Will make the winner of the coin toss think a bit and will nearly eliminate multiple overtime’s.

I really dislike sports that decide outcomes based on things that are so different than the game itself. Any sport with shootouts and college football OT are not great reflections of the game played during regulation.

That is the thing. These teams have all of regulation to win. I agree with Longyac. When the ball is placed on the 25 yard line, it takes away too much advantage from strong defensive teams. Currently, OT is giving offensive teams the advantage and it should be as neutral as possible. Thus, moving the ball to the 35 or 40 would even things out.

Yeah, the 35 or 40 would definitely help. If you force a 3 and out. Or even give up 1 first down, you are still talking about a 50 yard field goal. Not the gimme 40 yarder they start with now.
