I am also in your camp but MM is right the people who get mad and call the other side names and un American and all that other stuff you ain't changing their minds dude. Both sides have some very good thoughts and if we Americans would listen to each other and not just listen to what we already agree with then we could make this country better.
It is when you think one party is ALWAYS RIGHT and the other is the Devil....then it is only going to get worse. I mean educated people lose their minds over politics....Anymore people get to pick their own facts and truth. It is nuts.
MM is right you ain't changing 99.9% of people's minds.
Agree 110%, but even if zero people are changing minds, that doesn't mean you ought not say something. Imagine if you're in Nazi Germany, or Pol Pot's Cambodia, and you have a chance to stand up for what's right. You do it, even if they keep going that same wrong way. MLK, Jr. didn't change many minds, before he was killed. Neither did Jesus. But they kept on saying the things that needed to be said.
Now, I'm not saying any of us are Jesus or even MLK2--certainly not me!--or anyone on OB is needing me to tell them the what-for. If you've been on OB for long, you know that. That's not what I'm about. I'm just using it as an example.
For example, someone says everything's going to be better after January 20th. I doubt it. That doesn't mean I have to reply. For anyone with a halfway open mind, time will tell.
But then someone calls a black man a boy, or uses the N-word. Well, if no one else is going to call them out, I sure will. It needs to be said. The epithet / pejorative can't be allowed to be the last word. Even if no minds change. That just can't be, to let that go. As an online community, it would be unethical for us to allow that to happen. If LonghornMM is ever slow to deal with it, we must. Nip that crap in the bud!
