College Football Playoff Predictions?

I think the winner of the Texas - OSU game in the 2nd round goes on to win it all. Gotta go with Texas since OSU has a blockhead for their HC (Day). Those 2 teams - IMO - are the most talented teams in the country
That would be the 3rd round. We would have to beat Clemson and ASU and I think we will. Ohio state would have to beat Tennessee and Oregon for us to play them. Oregon or Ohio state would both be tough matchups.

I’m unable to look past Clemson. We haven’t shown we can actually beat them in our last few games, imo. There are too many games in the season now to rely solely on D play to win championships. We’re going to have to score points convincingly and we haven’t seen that since the Kentucky game.

Everyone in the playoff is a good football team with some major strengths and some glaring weaknesses.

IMO, Notre Dame and Oregon are the teams to beat, but even they have some major faults.

I guess if I were to rank the playoff teams based on "most talented"

1 - Ohio State
2 - Texas
3 - Georgia
4 - Notre Dame
5 - Oregon
6 - Tennessee
7 - Clemson
8 - Penn State
9 - Boise State
10 - Arizona State
11 - SMU
12 - Indiana

"best" team - as in most complete overall from the QB to the front 7 to the special teams

1 - Oregon
2 - Georgia
3 - Notre Dame
4 - Penn State
5 - Texas
6 - Boise State
7 - Ohio State
8 - Indiana
9 - Arizona State
10 - Penn State
11 - Clemson
12 - Tennessee

And finally "most likely" to win the natty

1 - Oregon
2 - Notre Dame
3 - Texas
4 - Georgia
5 - Ohio State
6 - Tennessee
7 - Clemson
8 - Penn State
9 - Arizona State
10 - SMU
11 - Boise State
12 - Indiana

Oregon es muy esssplosivo..... we would need 30 to beat them.

Clemson- 1st team to 24 wins.

There’s going to be upsets in this playoff system. My hope is that we aren’t one of them. I bet Boise and SMU will win in the first round. 2nd round I see Oregon getting upset by someone. Explosive offense but an average defense.

Clemson terrifies me, but some on here will tell you I'm crazy LOLOL

Tennessee vs. Ohio State

I'm going Ohio State here

Clemson vs. Texas

I'm going Clemson here ;)

Indiana vs. Notre Dame

I'm going Notre Dame here

SMU vs. Penn State

I'm going Penn State here

Ohio State vs. Oregon

I think Ohio State gets them this time on a neutral field

Clemson vs. Arizona State

I'm going Clemson here

Notre Dame vs. Georgia

Notre Dame gets the best of a team with inexperience at QB and the Florida State fans are insufferable

Penn State vs. Boise

I'm going Penn State here (my gosh I wish Penn State would've jumped us....this is so much easier a road than Clemson/AzSt.

Ohio State vs. Clemson

I'm going Ohio State here. Clemson magic runs out

Notre Dame vs. Penn State

I'm going Notre Dame here

Notre Dame vs. Ohio State

I'm going the fighting Ryan Day's in a very close, boring as **** game.

The only D Klubnik (or however you spell it) has seen like ours was Ga. Yes, it was their first game but it didn’t end well. Clemson won’t score more than 17 (depending on if Ewers throws another damn pick 6). Klub is gonna be spending a lot of time avoiding sacks and running for his life.

Which is why clob says "first team to 24 wins"...... or at least I think that's the case.

I like the end result but I don’t think it’s Ga. They won’t win thru with the backup QB. Isn’t Beck out?

Is Kubinick fast and shifty or is he like Ewers?

Didn’t know where to put this, but:

Anthony Hill, Michael Taeffe and Alfred Collin’s all made 2nd team All American, but not even honorable mention sec team? 🙄

Absolutely. I don't even expect this to be a hard game.

Hope you're right. Hope we blow them out.

Clemson is Top 40 in almost everything. The only thing we can point to is they lost to Georgia real bad in freaking August. I'm not gonna hang my hat on that.

I will hang my hat on the defense to show up and keep Clemson under 24. I'm with clob on this game....get to 25 points and we win.

Top 40?... I read that they were like 132 in defense or some such thing
That sounds out of whack, so no telling what I was reading.....anyway, they performed very poorly against the 3 teams they played that had a pulse.
I think they score less than 10 unless we turn it over very deep very often

83 per cent of the time the opposition scored on Clemson in the red zone... That means that even we have a chance there...

Clemson is

17th in Scoring O
39th in Scoring D

51st in RZ O
75th in RZ D

49th in Rush O
14th in Pass O
13th in Total O
25th in 3rd down O
39th in Yds/play O
55th in Sacks allowed/game O

45th in Rush D
69th in Pass D
56th in Total D
32nd in 3rd down D
47th in Yds/play D
28th in Sack/game D

3rd in Turnover Margin
11th in Creating Turnovers
4th in Turnovers/game (fewest)
23rd in penalties per game

I covered this up above. Clemson is not some slouch, pushover program. Those kids believe in each other, their coaches and their philosophy. It is a true team culture over there. The moment won't be too big for them I can assure you.

Now, Texas should win, but I'm uneasy with how all media types and whatnot are thinking this game is a foregone conclusion. Furthermore, Sark hasn't won a bowl game yet at Texas and is 2-4 overall.

So yes, I'm a bit reserved in my enthusiasm for this game.

Who says someone else besides me could start a prediction thread. Those are the rules it's law you guys know this.

Wtf

Everyone is at least a 7 point favorite. I say

Notre Dame

My heart's with mustangs but Penn State will win.

Good guys

There's gotta be an upset here I'm going with Tennessee over Ohio State

Do you think Klubnik is enough of a dual threat to require a spy on him?
I would say no. He will use his legs and can run effectively but he's nothing like Hawkins or Reed when it comes to mobility. As long as the rush stays disciplined in their lanes and the ends don't get upfield, we should be fine.

Colin Simmons. I love the kid. He's going to be a fvcking monster. But his weakness is born out of one of his strengths.
He's so fast, he can get SO far upfield so quickly, that he creates a separation crease between the rushing tackle and himself. He gets pushed too far upfield and Klubnik can simply tuck and run through that gap and pick up 5-7 yards easily.
He's got to be a little more disciplined. I get it, speed kills. He gets by a tackle to the outside and he can put Klubnik in the hospital. But he's got to stay in his rush lane.

Didn't want to start the Arizona State thread, but these guys are talking a LOT of shit.

QB said he is gonna go out and prove he is the better QB
DL said he is gonna go out and prove Texas made a mistake letting him go
Alford said the difference in Texas and ASU is the culture in the building, ASU has it, Texas doesn't

meanwhile...

Ant Hill says their RB is really good
