Congrat Tommy-- you blew this one big time

Also....Why not Dabo Sweeny? I hear no way, but somewhere I also heard that money talks.....and aint nowhere that can talk louder than we could. Not even Alabama.Hell! We once got a young coach that was an AA QB in Oklahoma that would have to go against his Idol in OK.....Money makes folks do things they never thought they would.

We should've gone after Dabo after Mack left. He was available then for sure. Two NC's later I doubt that he would want to come into this toxic situation no matter how much money is thrown his way. If you were Dabo or Saban would you seriously want to come to Austin right now? Saban and Dabo have something that UT isn't likely to give them and that's 100% control and autonomy over the football program. Too many statist liberal elites running our university and they're drunk on power. They aren't giving anyone that kind of power over the football program.

For us to get Dabo, we would literally have to offer a contract that doubles what the aggsy gave Jimbo. Even then Clemson would probably do everything in their power to match it. We would have a better chance of getting Matt Day from Ohio State.

The guy in the college ranks I like the best is the guy from ISU and the guy at ASU. I really want a guy like Jack Del Rio. A proven winner on the NFL level, and a guy who knows what it takes to make it in the league. We can fill in around the assistants with guys that know how to recruit and coach.

It doesn't matter who we get if they aren't given full control and accountability for the program, nothing will change. If players are going to remain free to cry to professors and administrators to draw attention to themselves in their quest for perceived social injustice and inequality there's no way an elite coach could succeed in that environment. The players must know unequivocally and without question that the man they play for has the power to remove them from the team and take away their scholarship at anytime if they engage in conduct that's detrimental to the team.

I believe that in the long-term, the SJW at Texas have killed the athletics program. You think Texas is the only P5 program that has racist traditions? You see anybody else crying about their feelings being hurt?

No one thought too much of Dabo then. He was a coach with talented but mentally weak and undisciplined teams that almost always lost to Clemson’s rivals, often in embarrassing fashion.

He certainly figured it all out not long after, though.

That's true it wasn't until year 6 when Clemson upset tOSU in the Orange Bowl that the Dabo era was born.

As a coach, I don't think Dabo is much better than Tom is. Dobo is leader and he leads by example. I would be proud to have Dabo coach my kids, I know he is going to teach them how to be successful on and off the field. Tom isn't that kind of leader and that is a big reason parents don't like him. It's the difference between a parent who thinks they should be their kids friend vs a parent who knows they are the parent. It's an either or relationship. You can't be both. If you try to be both, you won't be either. I think Tom is trying to be both.

Exactly what it is. Parents want to be their kids "best friend" instead of their parent. Coaches want to be a wet nurse instead of a coach. Look, Saban in old school. He's Landry old school. Dabo isn't THAT serious when it comes to his approach-- but it doesn't matter because both men have the same "presence" when the lights come on and it's time to play.

Sure, Dabo likes to hoot and holler and dance with his kids AFTER a win-- and Nick doesn't do that of course--- but both men have such a intense gravitas associated with their persona that the kids know when it's time for business, and when it's time for play.

We have a coach that thinks it's ok to mock opposing QBs during a game and give the middle finger to cameras on a national broadcast during signing day.

Don’t forget the beat down he almost administered to Gundy, the only thing stopping that beat down was the 50 yards between them and assistant coaches holding him back.

This is the "nice" version of why the kids didn't go to Texas. I can assure you with 100000000% certainty that this is an edited version of the actual conversation had between father and sons.

“There’s so much work that you do as a player that you want to win,” Blake Brockermeyer said. “At the end of the day, if you’re not winning and you’re getting your ass kicked every day and you’re busting your butt, it’s not much fun. We know this ourselves, but a lot of the people we talked to, that was a big point from them. They were like, ‘Listen man, you’re going to be doing this all day long every day. You’ve got to go somewhere where you can win or it’s not fun.’ And when you think of Alabama, you think of excellence and greatness. The expectation there is national championship or bust. We’re excited about it.”

I'm sure brother Luke, who is currently on the team, has provided his brothers and parents with a first hand look at what a day in the life is like for a UT football player. I bet it isn't pretty.

Wrong my friend, I upgraded my tornado deflector package that came as an option on my mobile home when purchased. It may burn down from faulty wiring but it will NEVER take abuse from gale force winds
That's pretty funny.. there might be a market for those.. Perhaps an opportunity for a side business during and beyond the pandemic.. I may have to get in on that with you..!!

I think this is the most relevant data point I have seen. Good take.

Dear Tommy,

How did you fvck this one up? It was a gift. A gift on a silver platter with a bow tied on it. Not getting the Brockermeyer boys is not a reflection of the program. It's a reflection of you. Your actions over the last three years are the reason the two best offensive lineman in the country at their respective positions will be going to Alabama. Nick saban just dragged his nuts right through your gravy bowl during Thanksgiving dinner.

Great job Tommy. You managed to run off legacy longhorns. I'm flat the fvck out disgusted.
Back.............away.................from...................the.............coolaid!

It should be downright embarrassing for Tommy to lose out on these guys. They grew up huge fans of UT and probably had burnt orange onesies. They didn't pick Bama because of the location, degree, or facilities. They picked it for one reason only and that reason is that they don't think Tommy is a good coach, period. Tommy should take it very personally, but he's probably too much of a narcissist to realize he got punked and is chalking it up to something else.

I was listen to a podcast yesterday and Rod Babers was talking about the future of The Eyes of Texas.

How is it going to work when the black players don't sing, but the white players sing. How about, the minority members of the band, refusing to play. Minority students/fans refusing to stand and participate.
What happens if it becomes a white only thing.

I realize that there are more important things than football, but do you honestly believe that LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State don't have some racist traditions?

Why haven't their "leaders" spoken out or given their schools an ultimatim? I mean I no the answer, but some of you aren't going to like it.

And the expectations at Texas... getting rid of the school song, toppling statues, soliciting donations for riots, etc.... great program we have. No wonder I'm down to pirating the games and criticisms.

Let the games begin!! I'll incite my own riots!

That's easy. It's $$$, championships and a track to the NFL. Our guys aren't getting any of the above so might as well accomplish something, right?

I hope Tommy's handlers are out taking the temperature of the fanbase instead of the team. He's getting heat from all sides. Tom, don't listen to CDC, he doesn't sharpen the axe.

When the SJW's start talking at those programs, one of the "leaders"(dawgs) tell them to STFU. Those programs are about their business. You can be a SJW on you own time.

I watched Coach Royal's services on LHN a few days ago and noticed all in attendance, of all skin shade, had their horns up and were singing The Eyes of Texas. No one complained then.....amazing how times change all of the sudden. One time or just a few times, long ago, some fools in the ministrel did something stupid.

Exactly. These woke people today are "offended" because they're told to be offended. People have sang The Eyes, walked by statues, walked by monuments, walked by buildings, looked at flags, heard names of teams, etc. and weren't offended until just here recently. Liberalsim and political correctness are destroying this country.

Then the black players do not sing it, who cares? I don't. That is their stupidity showing if they think that song is racist. GTH is my response. Many black former players would feel the same way toward these Losers who have not won a Conference Championship since forever but now they want to tell us what to do? Ha! .

I bet you are a lot of fun at parties.

Rod Babers has said that the former players had a zoom meeting and that a majority of the former black athletes on the call said that they wouldn't sing the song in the future. They claim that they didn't know about the racist background of the song.

And the song is still not racist, for the million time. Sorry BLM but you lose on the Eyes of Texas. There is no racist background. Back in the day, all entertainment was done with minstrel shows. So because some actor we do not even know, may have sang the song one time in blackface, we are to ban it? This is all complete bs to cause problems when there are no problems.

I agree with you, but that doesn't change the fact that as long as it still in place, this debate will continue.

My problem is that the people that have determined that Eyes is racist are not applying the same logic to all aspects of their life.

If you use their logic, the following things are racist:

Movies,
Tv,
Music,
Books,
Cotton,
Nike,
Food,
Everything

You can bet your ass they’ll be taking everyone’s temperature before opening the gates of any stadium
