Congrat Tommy-- you blew this one big time

I agree with you, but that doesn't change the fact that as long as it still in place, this debate will continue.

My problem is that the people that have determined that Eyes is racist are not applying the same logic to all aspects of their life.

If you use their logic, the following things are racist:

Movies,
Tv,
Music,
Books,
Cotton,
Nike,
Food,
Everything

Silk too...

Rod Babers has said that the former players had a zoom meeting and that a majority of the former black athletes on the call said that they wouldn't sing the song in the future. They claim that they didn't know about the racist background of the song.

That's dumb. The song isn't racist. Minstrel shows happened. Are these former athletes going to rescind their Lifetime Longhorn status? Because if The Eyes being sung at a minstrel show in 1903 is offensive, then everything about UT should be because UTs entire history is intertwined with racism...

The LSU Tigers are named after a civil war regiment.

I bet you are a lot of fun at parties.

Oh look, the folks at burnt orange nation get it.

This is the first nail on Tom's coffin. Even with the world class facilities we have in Austin--- knowing that if his kids stay healthy that they will get a shot at the NFL-- and getting to play with their older brother-- those boys chose to go somewhere else.

Somewhere they could WIN.

Somewhere the kids aren't turning on the University.

Somewhere the athletes are athletes. Not spoiled brats and social justice warriors.

I was listen to a podcast yesterday and Rod Babers was talking about the future of The Eyes of Texas.

How is it going to work when the black players don't sing, but the white players sing. How about, the minority members of the band, refusing to play. Minority students/fans refusing to stand and participate.
What happens if it becomes a white only thing.

I realize that there are more important things than football, but do you honestly believe that LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State don't have some racist traditions?

Why haven't their "leaders" spoken out or given their schools an ultimatim? I mean I no the answer, but some of you aren't going to like it.

Don't care, just win the game.

I wonder how many Yale graduates will give back their degree because the school is named after a former slave trader? I think it's funny I haven't seen a single person talking about changing the name of that school, I guess they either don't have black folks or the school ain't woke.

How many Black Muslims will convert when they find out the African slaves were sold by Arab slave traders in the first place? The victims being sold in the slave markets had all been captured by either Arab slave traders, or by other blacks that sold them to the Arab slave traders.

By the way.....as long as ya'll are bringing up possible replacements for TH, why not consider Bob Stoops? He couldnt win a bowl game to save his life, but he could at least get there.

These last 7-8 posts is exactly the worm hole I mentioned weeks ago. At this point I hope EVERYONE is offended because something is getting changed that wasn’t “intended.”

As I said, change is okay and good sometimes. But adults need to be leaders and sometimes let the children throw their fit. This isn’t happening. The snowball is too big. Everything is going down

Exactly. If you don't say no to ridiculous demands like these SJWs make, they'll continue to push and ask for more and more. At this point, the tail is wagging the dog. Look at things around the U.S. today. People are trying to destroy the country over PC nonsense.

Herman better hope he wins out this season. The doomsday clock on his removal has moved up by not getting these twins. If I see one more dumbass play calling, like going for 4th and 5 from our 48 yard line, then I will puke blood.

How about this: Walmart just ended their participation in Black Friday LOLOLO. You can’t make this crap up. I guess Blacks Barbeque is next?

Oh for goodness sake people get a grip. Some of these replies are getting downright silly. A couple of highly rated players going somewhere else despite family ties?

Take a look around you. Uncertain racial times, pandemic that has a terrible grip on our country matter a whole lot more to me. And stop trying to combine coach Herman's stance on current racial issues with those kids committing elsewhere.

If Sam Cosmi makes AA this year then we're on the way back with great ol.

Who did this?

Cali--- i can promise you--- with 100% certainly-- that one of the factors in the decision was that Herman is not seen as not having a complete handle on this team.

Now was that the #1 factor in this decision?

No

Was it the last and lowest factor in this decision?

Also--- no.

I think I've heard this song before.

There are 8 Oline recruits in Texas with a 4 Star rating or higher. Alabama schools have 3 times as many of those 8 recruits committed than Texas does.

If you think that what has been going on at Texas will not effect our recruiting, you live in a van down by the river.

There's no question as the former player you know what goes on with this team. Certainly more than me. At least part of my opinion is that it's happened and we have to forget about this and move on. We.can still get some top ol. Probably not 5* but there's nothing wrong with 4. We will not go out empty handed.

Perhaps all these new coaches have something to do with this uncertainty. I mean its impossible for this team this coaching staff to come together right now. The biggest question I have about this is Herb Hand. Time will tell in regards to HH. Was he part of those boys decision not to go to TX?

Here's what I can tell you---

When your dad is a first team all American, and a first round draft pick, and a 9 year NFL veteran---- do you think there's a single offensive line coach in college football with more first hand experience and knowledge than dad?

Rhetorical question obviously-- no there's not. It would be like Dan Marino telling his kid that his high school coach knows more about reading a defense than Dan does.
There no coach in college that can teach those kid more than daddy. Doesn't matter where those kids go to school, they will BOTH have a shot at the league one day. They could go play at Hoekstra University in outer Mongolia, and they're both getting drafted (if they stay healthy).
They want to win-
They want to have fun-
They don't want to deal with outside distractions-
They want a chance to win a national title-

They have little chance of doing these things at Texas.

You don't understand. Tommy Brockermeyer's grow on trees. Texas will just go sign another one.

What ticks me off is that Saban can stroll into Texas and take the top rated player who is a legacy. Edit - he didn't stroll in, he just called them on the phone due to a pandemic.

I thought they always said they would wait and see how the season played out before committing. Something changed that plan. Was it the uncertainty of the season, or did certain actions help make up their mind? Only they know, but something sped up the process.

another sign that the appocholypse is upon us.....the Edmonton Eskimos are going to change their name to something not offensive to the inuit people...

I guess the Minnesota Vikings are next, eh?

Here in Comal County we have 4 public high schools, one is the Canyon Cougars. Any chance single women over 45 may push for a name change?

Yes. Change it. As someone who has a friend (female) that is attractive, and over 45 I find it offensive. Doesn't matter what she thinks. I now speak for anyone that could be offended by something.
