I agree with you, but that doesn't change the fact that as long as it still in place, this debate will continue.
My problem is that the people that have determined that Eyes is racist are not applying the same logic to all aspects of their life.
If you use their logic, the following things are racist:
Movies,
Tv,
Music,
Books,
Cotton,
Nike,
Food,
Everything
Rod Babers has said that the former players had a zoom meeting and that a majority of the former black athletes on the call said that they wouldn't sing the song in the future. They claim that they didn't know about the racist background of the song.
That's dumb. The song isn't racist. Minstrel shows happened. Are these former athletes going to rescind their Lifetime Longhorn status? Because if The Eyes being sung at a minstrel show in 1903 is offensive, then everything about UT should be because UTs entire history is intertwined with racism...
https://www.burntorangenation.com/p...ermeyer-texas-longhorns-recruiting-tom-hermanI bet you are a lot of fun at parties.
I was listen to a podcast yesterday and Rod Babers was talking about the future of The Eyes of Texas.
How is it going to work when the black players don't sing, but the white players sing. How about, the minority members of the band, refusing to play. Minority students/fans refusing to stand and participate.
What happens if it becomes a white only thing.
I realize that there are more important things than football, but do you honestly believe that LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State don't have some racist traditions?
Why haven't their "leaders" spoken out or given their schools an ultimatim? I mean I no the answer, but some of you aren't going to like it.
By the way.....as long as ya'll are bringing up possible replacements for TH, why not consider Bob Stoops? He couldnt win a bowl game to save his life, but he could at least get there.
These last 7-8 posts is exactly the worm hole I mentioned weeks ago. At this point I hope EVERYONE is offended because something is getting changed that wasn’t “intended.”
As I said, change is okay and good sometimes. But adults need to be leaders and sometimes let the children throw their fit. This isn’t happening. The snowball is too big. Everything is going down
How about this: Walmart just ended their participation in Black Friday LOLOLO. You can’t make this crap up. I guess Blacks Barbeque is next?Exactly. If you don't say no to ridiculous demands like these SJWs make, they'll continue to push and ask for more and more. At this point, the tail is wagging the dog. Look at things around the U.S. today. People are trying to destroy the country over PC nonsense.

Oh for goodness sake people get a grip. Some of these replies are getting downright silly. A couple of highly rated players going somewhere else despite family ties?
Take a look around you. Uncertain racial times, pandemic that has a terrible grip on our country matter a whole lot more to me. And stop trying to combine coach Herman's stance on current racial issues with those kids committing elsewhere.
If Sam Cosmi makes AA this year then we're on the way back with great ol.

Cali--- i can promise you--- with 100% certainly-- that one of the factors in the decision was that Herman is not seen as not having a complete handle on this team.Oh for goodness sake people get a grip. Uncertain racial times? LMELFAO!
We live in the free-est and most diverse time in recorded human history!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
I think I've heard this song before.
There are 8 Oline recruits in Texas with a 4 Star rating or higher. Alabama schools have 3 times as many of those 8 recruits committed than Texas does.
If you think that what has been going on at Texas will not effect our recruiting, you live in a van down by the river.
You. Don't. Get. It.
Cali--- i can promise you--- with 100% certainly-- that one of the factors in the decision was that Herman is not seen as not having a complete handle on this team.
Now was that the #1 factor in this decision?
No
Was it the last and lowest factor in this decision?
Also--- no.
Here's what I can tell you---There's no question as the former player you know what goes on with this team. Certainly more than me. At least part of my opinion is that it's happened and we have to forget about this and move on. We.can still get some top ol. Probably not 5* but there's nothing wrong with 4. We will not go out empty handed.
Perhaps all these new coaches have something to do with this uncertainty. I mean its impossible for this team this coaching staff to come together right now. The biggest question I have about this is Herb Hand. Time will tell in regards to HH. Was he part of those boys decision not to go to TX?
Here's what I can tell you---
When your dad is a first team all American, and a first round draft pick, and a 9 year NFL veteran---- do you think there's a single offensive line coach in college football with more first hand experience and knowledge than dad?
Rhetorical question obviously-- no there's not. It would be like Dan Marino telling his kid that his high school coach knows more about reading a defense than Dan does.
There no coach in college that can teach those kid more than daddy. Doesn't matter where those kids go to school, they will BOTH have a shot at the league one day. They could go play at Hoekstra University in outer Mongolia, and they're both getting drafted (if they stay healthy).
They want to win-
They want to have fun-
They don't want to deal with outside distractions-
They want a chance to win a national title-
They have little chance of doing these things at Texas.
Well Eskimo pie is no longeranother sign that the appocholypse is upon us.....the Edmonton Eskimos are going to change their name to something not offensive to the inuit people...
And you're not paying attention to the real world.

I guess the Minnesota Vikings are next, eh?
Here in Comal County we have 4 public high schools, one is the Canyon Cougars. Any chance single women over 45 may push for a name change?
