I tested positive Friday after not feeling well for a few days. I’m in my 40’s and very healthy except I do have lupus. It’s been managed very well and I don’t take anything for it right now but it did qualify me for monoclonal antibody treatment. The one I received was Bamlanivimab, the same one Trump received. If you are over 65, or have a health condition such as autoimmune disease, immune deficiency, diabetes, heart or liver disease, hypertension etc you can qualify. It’s also FREE. I got mine at one of 3 clinics the govt has set up at regional hospitals. It’s an infusion that lasts and hour and then they monitor you for an hour. If you are early on in your diagnosis, this could really help. It needs to be given within 10 days and before the need for hospitalization. So far researchers say it reduces the need for hospitalization by 70%. It recently received an EUA.

Hope this is helpful.

Edited to add that you need a referral. You can get one easy if you test at an urgent care, er, or dr office. If at a cvs or something then call your doctor for a referral.

What were your symptoms that led to you getting tested? I have what feels like a cold coming on, and am quite paranoid.

Thanks for sharing. How did you get in for the treatment? You just call? Your doc have to approve you? Where did you go?

I felt like a cold coming on. Headache, slight sore throat and achy for 2 days. Then the day I got tested I had developed highish fever 102.5 and strong chills. The headache got much worse and I developed more congestion. I also started coughing. The treatment should shorten the duration and lessen the severity.

I’m in Vegas and HHS sent a DMAT team and they started a clinic at my husband’s hospital. But I believe it’s available in most cities. There are a couple of monoclonal antibody treatments available but I would try to get the one I got. I figure trump got the best one. If you test positive at an urgent care ask the doc for referral. If at your dr office ask for one from them. The er docs at the hospital I got mine at are signing some referrals. The nice thing is it’s free. It’s normally a very expensive drug.

Thanks for the heads up. Prayers for a fast recovery.

my nam wife is in her early 50s and has an AID she has had for several years now but has never really been correctly diagnosed. She tested positive the day after Christmas but pretty much over it now. Main symptoms were coughing and loss of taste and smell, with some achiness. The aches and cough are gone and most of smell and taste are back but not all the way.

Best of luck OP. It’s alarming that more people aren’t aware of these treatments. It was such a big deal when they were approved and since they’ve said they have a ton of supply because people just aren’t aware of them.

Thanks for posting. I have an auto-immune condition so this might come in handy.

I would just get a test for the peace of mind if nothing else. Plus you really don’t want to accidentally spread it to someone else if you do actually have it.

I know. It seems lifesaving and could reduce a lot of severity. This one was approved recently and it’s free. People should know so they can get it.

Agree. Also if you do have any health issues, the earlier the better for monoclonal antibody treatment. You need a positive test and a referral.
