CUMBIE IS IN AUSTIN

I'll put my sources up against anyone. He's not coming. How about this? If he does, I will no longer post. If he doesn't come, how about you no longer post?

That doesn't make any sense, much like your supposed inside connections. I actually like posting here, and I don't feel like creating a new account every other day unlike your 8 day old account. I never said you were going to be proven wrong, I said you were full of shit. You've proven that already.

It's people like you that hurt message boards. You could of ignored my post instead of attack me. When my sources are right, why would I want to tell you who our OC will be later?

I don't like you people. You lie every day about every thing. POS humans.

And you're a bunch of bitter, obsessed about UT, hate UT more than you like yourselves do-nothing losers.

TCU reporter with quote on Twitter from Cumbie saying that he is staying in Ft. Worth and has turned down the UT offer. How long before Strong offers Gilbert?

I assume it's already happened, or is currently happening. We don't want to be in limbo long and risk the recruiting class falling apart.

I know Cumbie had a couple people mentioned that he would want to bring with him. Who are those people for Gilbert?

It's possible that he may not have as much say in that as they were prepared to give Cumbie.

At Texas, Cumbie would’ve been the primary play-caller, a role that at TCU belongs to Doug Meacham. The belief is Cumbie had concerns about Strong’s job security and the pool of quarterbacks with which he’d inherit.

That's fine. He and his family are happy at TCU. There's more to life than money and maybe he's more comfortable not calling plays and not being on the hot seat. Nothing wrong with that.

Just questioning the logic. If Strong is on his way out and you can't turn the offense around with our QBs, don't you just take your $3.6 guaranteed million and go somewhere else in 2017? My wife made the comment, "If anyone ever offers you $3.6 guaranteed million dollars, you don't have to check with me first."

There are legitimate reasons for Cumbie to stay put, I can't fault him in that decision.

I hope somebody does, Scholz

that is just so much money for somebody that does not call plays now....desperation is starting to show, and it should. If this does not get turned around next year to at least 8-9 wins and good bowl game , Charlie will be canned.

Maybe Strong oughta go, if no one wants to works for him, seems like we wasting a lotta time messing around trying to get a OC, if he hires a second string OC then we are no better than we are now, or let him go and hire a big name coach that someone would want to be a asst to...like scholtz wife said " Go on take the money and run"!, in all reality it probably would be better to clean house than go thru this every season

Who is the highest paid OC? That contract would have had to put Cumbie near the top, right? That's the kind of money you throw at a proven commodity, not an up and comer.

I agree. What did cumbie do to deserve such money? He doesn't have a long successful track record of calling plays in his or anyone elses offense.

Offered Sunday and today's Wednesday. Looks like we'll offer the next guy today. I dont see a lot of time wasting by coach Strong or the administration.

If the sticking point was 3-yrs guaranteed vs 2-yrs, I'm ok with saying no to three years. Any incoming candidate must know that this is a short term trial, which if successful will lead to a head coaching job elsewhere, but if unsuccessful, this will not be a 3-yr experiment, and possibly not even 2-years. No point committing to 3-years and an extra million until we see some results on the field.

Frankly, if we'd gotten the no late on Sunday night, we'd have offered the next guy on Monday. Can't fault Strong when the offered candidate takes 72 hours to finalize his decision, even if it seems a bit of a slow walk, and frankly, can't fault the candidate for taking the time to think it through before making such a major career move. Best of luck to him, hope we can make him pay (on the field) next year.

I don't have any particular attachment to C^&mbie or Gilbert and don't know enough about either to have any preference. Hopefully we get a guy who can who is comfortable with coach Strong, can recruit at a high level while also keeping our incoming qb's happy and who is able to install a high octane offense this off season with the personnel in hand.

Have to pay more for a potentially short term gig.

Chump change if we get the right guy who can crank up the engine.
