In honor of the conclusion of Ken Burns' excellent country music documentary, if you look at where we are as a country, this is only reasonable. There is no Soviet threat that requires us to stay together to help the world. We have no internal issues such as slavery that would make one side refuse to let the other walk away without a bloody nose. It is sad to say, but this has been a long time coming. It was world breaking and the greatest thing ever, but it is over.
