If you are 1B and want to get the vaccine, this is how to do it.
1) Get registered on Parkland or UTSW Mychart sight. I called Parkland at thE number at this link and the nice lady hooked my up with a MyChart code. Ifany of your doctors are there, you probably can sign up directly.
2) Use the MyChart app to book an appointment.
3) I was online tonight and got one tomorrow morning. Best of all, my elderly parents got their first shot tonight.

Hookem and good health to everyone.

Btw - my sister, who practices at another hospital, say Parkland is rumored to most have its shit together in terms of vacinations.

@TexMexman Question: are you over 65? I am in Texas version of 1B, but it looks like Parkland is requiring 1B and over 65. Was this your experience? Thanks.

Bell County Health District (TSA L) started a waitlist that I put my name on back on Jan 4. I received an email and a link today to sign up for a time slot. I signed up for tomorrow afternoon. It appears that different areas have different methods. Waco (TSA M) posted a link to time slots on Sunday afternoon and they were all filled within an hour.

Does anyone know if you are restricted to only using the TSA that you live in? Can you register in an adjoining area?

Collin county is not on there, why would that be?

UTSW at the west campus location (2001 Inwood) was a well oiled machine. Very well run.

Make sure you take care of your preregistration stuff online before you go. It will make your life much easier.

I have looked at the Trauma Service information for area O. It really doesn't say anything. Williamson County is in TSA O and is run by Austin. Here is their web page. They talk about pre-registration but don't provide a link.

Could you post the telephone no to get an access code for my parkland? Thank you.

I'm in Danver area. My parents are around 80 and live in Far North Dallas. They're not super proactive. Any advice on what they should do? Do you have to be a patient of those places you listed?

Per the state of Texas, you do not. But, this morning I was told otherwise by the lady at UtSW. You have to very proactive.

Until today, they required you to be a patient to get a vaccination appointment. The State of Texas changed the rules to fix that.

To get it at UTSW, you’ve had to have been seen by one of their doctors in the past 3 years.

You can get on the Dallas County list and the Tom Thumb list. get on both. Take the first one that calls.

UTSW is doing a Covid study. They are asking for volunteers to come to one of many locations to get covid-19 tested as well as antibody tested. I emailed them this afternoon to ask if they would consider this study as being seen by one of their physicians for reasons of vaccinations... In other words, would they vaccinate you as a part of the study.
I‘ll try to remember to post their reply in this thread.

I got mine in Waco this afternoon.I live in Austin. I am in 1B for Texas. I did not have to show anything. Just asked if I had an appointment and my name and filled out paperwork. Very fast and efficient. In and out within 20 minutes.

i’ve checked half a dozen times On my chart to get my mom scheduled but I cant even find the schedule link. Will try to call that number. Thanks for posting.

I’ll be honest, if you’re younger and healthy, the vaccine should be reserved for folks that are more susceptible. I have a healthy friend in his mid-40s that got his shot today and I think he’s selfish SOB.
I know several like that. I couldn’t believe it.

I got this email overnight from Baylor Scott and White which is where my primary care doctor practices out of.

“This week, we will begin immunizing Baylor Scott & White patients who meet Phase 1B criteria, as informed by federal and state guidance —those 65 and older and 16 years of age and older with certain high-risk medical conditions.

We will be reaching out to eligible patients to schedule an appointment, as supply allows. Your provider may contact you through MyBSWHealth, via email or by phone.”

The Federal Government has published guidelines on who is in 1b. This group includes manufacturing workers, among others, who are in younger age groups. We need all of these people, regardless of age, to be vaccinated ASAP. The biggest problem with this rollout has been some Governors getting too caught up in micromanaging who gets it. WSJ published a good piece on it this morning. Micromanaging who gets it means doses sit on shelves.

We discussed this here weeks ago. When you start asking health administrators to fact check everything, you are going to create delays and problems. If you refuse to vaccinate a 40 year old meat packer, maybe there is a meat packing outbreak aNd we have another National meat shortage. Refuse to vaccinate a 40 year old manufacturing worker, and suddenly the local wastewater treatment plant shuts down because there is an outbreak at a key supplier.

Get the vacc into every willing arm ASAP. Vaccines have been going to waste.

My wife and I went to the Dallas Fair Park mega center yesterday with 11-11:30 appointment. They were vaccinating only 75 years or over, but were super organized. We arrived at 11:00, filled out paperwork, rode to injection building in a golf cart, got shot up, then monitored for 30 minutes, and were back in the car ready to go in one hour. No one checked any ID or driver's license; we were asked our age at the gate, and that was all. Again a really effective operation for us. My understanding is that seniors in surrounding counties can also go there.

Well, Austin just posted their sign up this morning. Same link as above.

100% this...ridiculous that people don't understand how our government and bureaucracy works. There's a reason that states like Texas and Florida are leading the pack in getting vaccine doses in arms since they've prioritized getting people vaccinated as opposed to creating a ton of restrictions on who can get it and who cannot. On the other hand, states like California and Washington have tried rolling it out in the most equitable/restrictive way and are way behind the pack in getting shots in arms and have a ton of vaccines sitting on shelves. This should have been done based on age initially and gotten all of the available doses out instead of holding back half for the next dose. Many experts were saying this upfront and the feds and states ignored the advice and we have since had an abomination of a rollout.

Did they give you a card and an appointment for your second dose?

Gave us a card to show we'd had the shot, but we'll need to make an appointment for the second one. Still a very, surprisingly, organized deal.

Expecting people to wait around forever while millions of doses sit on shelves, public health experts urge for a different strategy and the government proves to once again be completely worthless in terms of logistics seems a bit naïve to me. Glad our governor made it clear a couple of weeks ago that we need to prioritize getting shots in arms first and foremost.

I agree that no doses should go to waste, and the best way to avoid that is to administer as quickly as possible.

It was my experience seeing several healthy people get vaccinated while a bunch of seniors are waiting to get scheduled. Just a minor personal anecdote, not meant to be an indictment on any specific government or group of people. I guess it says more about my friends than anything else. And I 100% am certain they weren't thinking "I need to make sure this vaccine doesn't go to waste." Lol. But hey if it means we can over this crap faster, I'm all for it!!

Agree completely. My wife, mother and I were vaccinated last weekend here in Dallas at Kroger headquarters based on a text I received that they had a lot of doses. We waited in line for about 90 minutes. We are all in Group 1B. I actually thought they had a really good plan, they had two lines, one for people in 1B and one for people in 1A. The 1A line went quickly to get vaccines to healthcare and over 65, the rest went much more slowly but I felt it was an equitable way to distribute these. My mom is in poor health and her sixties and my wife was in schools everyday. As soon as they made the decision to not put frontline workers like my wife in the 1A/1B group based on occupation and high-risk of exposure but decided to vaccinate young and healthy Congress members, I just decided to do what was best for us and our situation and the rest be damned. Even though we all technically qualified under the state's Group 1B classification, I would have done it regardless and we definitely saw some 20 somethings getting vaccinated last weekend although many claimed other conditions or living with cancer patients, etc.

He’s in none of those groups, he’s an attorney. I don’t blame administrators, I blame him for being selfish. They ran out of doses and plenty of 1B people were unable to get vaccinated.
